At best she would use you as a back up if her primary choice didn't work out but probably not. Anyway, most chicks realize that if they just flat out reject you then the chance of friendship is usually out the window.

Sorry but the tea-baggers referred to themselves as "tea-baggers". They were also reported as "tea-baggers" on the "fair and balanced" Fox network. I know because I watched it.

As for going easy on Dems...give me a break. It's trivially easy to find anecdotal evidence showing preference for either party. There's things I see on CNN (widely believed by the right to be a leftist mouthpiece) that not only makes the democrats look bad but the entire administration. Yesterday they were discussing whether he has the cajones to be president or is he too weak for the gig (as Hilary suggested during the primaries). I watch CNN daily (as I'm out of work) and I can assure you that they show negative material on Obama and his administration every fucking day of the week. The only thing that varies is how much time they spend on it. Just because they aren't as negative as Fox, does not make them "left-wing", it just makes them left of Fox.

What I've found is that these "news" organizations are entertainment oriented, period. Accuracy and balance just isn't interesting, so the more one-sided, alarmist, etc. it is, the better (and the better the ratings).

There's a huge difference between bullet matching and DNA testing: bullet matching is complete bullshit. The FBI never had scientific evidence to prove it was an effective technique. DNA does actually work with the appropriate caveats (non-contaminated crime scenes, proper handling of evidence, etc.).

It's true there's no magic bullet for evidence, but I wouldn't use bullet matching to support your argument.

Groovy is different because it's easy for Java programmers to learn. In fact, most Java devs can understand Groovy code with little or no explanation. That's certainly not the case for JRuby or Jython.

In any event, I agree Clojure is pretty sweet. However, being a Lisp, it's future is questionable. A lot of devs won't be willing to deal with the brain melting process necessary to grock it.

As for the extra overheard of JRuby that Foofoobar speaks of, it's a bunch of horseshit. JRuby has performance that's very comparable to Ruby and when the dynamic features are added to the JVM, it will likely be faster.
