This is dumb ownership, if this bug becomes prevalent.
Phew... I was worried there for a second. It's a good thing we can rely on Windows users to not be dumb, otherwise the Internet would be bogged down in viruses, spyware, and spam.
Well, most users are, uh, stupid. Even if we used Linux, in order to make it simple enough to use, there will be vulnerabilities. For example, getting people to use "sudo" with a limited account makes sense to you and me, but might confuse the heck out of some newbie in Tennessee.
So it is not a Windows-specific problem. If Linux ever becomes popular as a desktop platform, we will then have dumb Linux users.
This is dumb ownership, if this bug becomes prevalent.
Sort of like it was dumb ownership to leave your SQL machine open to the Internet, allowing port 1334 open?
Or it was dumb to open any of the attachments claiming to be from your administrator sending a passworded zipped file with some "clean-up tool" attached?
We have proven that users aren't the one's responsible enough not to do something dumb. And, SP2 is still undergoing testing in many office environments.
I said that this was dumb ownership, not dumb usership. There's a difference, you know?
The patch for this one is already out. Furthermore, SP2 systems do not have this vulnerability unless Office is installed. SP2 by default has auto-updates enabled. And for Office to be exploited in a SP2 system, the user has to open the file manually.
Code is always buggy. Even Firefox had a JPEG vulnerability of its own. This is dumb ownership, if this bug becomes prevalent.
The WinXP SP2 firewall limits open outward bound packets to a certain number. This is to slow down the rate of infection if the system is hijacked. However, P2P performance gets killed.
1. Radical Islam is our enemy. 2. Harass Arabs. 3. Racial profiling?
I'm sorry, but "Radical Islam" is a religion, not a skin condition. Once we racially profile, we'll see some white dude called "John Walker", let's say, attack America.
The slow performance has to do with the widgets that are loaded for each program. Firefox/Mozilla loads one, while GTK is another, OpenOffice loads still another, and these all take lots of memory. More programs are supporting both GTK and KDE. However, distros have to start making choices and shipping "enhanced" versions of these programs with KDE or GNOME.
This is not off-topic. It is an Anonymous Coward, but he asks a legitimate question. I'm not going to answer it, nor am I sure whether it should be answered, but it is not off-topic to this thread. It in fact, would clarify the conversation.
And while you're looking here, go through my previous messages and mod them up. You can be kind of like a "cold-case" squad.
What kind of slashdotter are you? You should know that "Funny" mods don't increase your karma. Try begging to be modded "Informative" instead. (Hint, hint, mods.)
Anyway, here are some more: - Natalie Portman is really hot. - Don't click on goatse.cx. Just don't. - Emacs kicks vi's ass. - Gentoo kicks ass. - Natalie Portman is really hot. - Slashdot is getting lame. - Macs kick the crap out of PCs. - BeOS kicks ass. - Everything you can do with your computer I can do with my Commodore 64. - Linux isn't hard; you're just stupid. - Natalie Portman is really hot. - KDE sucks. - GNOME sucks. - GNAAA: they're trolls. - Maria Sharapova is really hto.
And remember causality. Is it to be a casualty of your theory?
We take all the energy away from the past. This has to have far-reaching effects because of quantum mechanics, which does not necessarily have to be limited by the speed of light with respect to application of "forces". (Entangled pairs, for example, transfer information immediately.)
It is a bad idea to give people receipts for elections because then you can actually buy votes. In the current system, you cannot prove you actually voted one way or the other. With receipts, well, you can. This would actually, however, make your vote worth something...
Comedy is a great news source because it can point out the hypocrisy and straight out lies without fearing repercussions that might limit "real" news outlets.
The best example is "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. It's sharp and incisive. Dick Cheney was caught lying about WMDs in Iraq. Stewart stroked his chin for a minute before intoning, deadpan, "I'm sorry to inform you, Mr. Cheney....that you're pants are on fire.'
If you have a plan for military intervention in North Korea that doesn't lead to the virtual annihilation of Seoul within hours of the start of the war, please, we're all ears.
A day before the invasion, everyone in Seoul takes ten steps that way.

A French monk (can't recall his name - Pierre somebody, I think)
Now, now there. Be nice.
But you are undercharging. It's easy for you, but the guy is obviously willing to pay double what you are asking for.
It's funny. People have the follwing logic:
1. Radical Islam is our enemy.
2. Harass Arabs.
3. Racial profiling?
I'm sorry, but "Radical Islam" is a religion, not a skin condition. Once we racially profile, we'll see some white dude called "John Walker", let's say, attack America.
A dirty bomb made from this is dangerous enough, in terms of terrorism.
But advanced terrorists can remake the nuke into something dangerous.
Try Smoothwall at smoothwall.org.
It's really good stuff based on 2.4 kernel.
Solid.
I would have installed Linux.
That's because they have ads touting a chick dancing to the song.

A while ago, there was a source leak and someone found a vulnerability in the BMP shell. Is this related to the same thing?

Hello. Mods?! This guy is kidding! This is NOT a map of Springfield, Simpson Land.
What if we can only travel forwards?
And remember causality. Is it to be a casualty of your theory?

Great show. Watch it 11:00 PM on Comedy Central.
A day before the invasion, everyone in Seoul takes ten steps that way.
Especially since Al Gore created it. Shouldn't he get a say in this?
Spelling/grammar.
And with it.
Go to your room.
He could have had a bad day or the competitor must have had a good day. It's like taking a final; one bad day doesn't mean you are stupid.
What's so special about this? I do it all the time.
I still cannot upgrade the BIOS of my computer using an Asus P4P without using a floppy disk to boot into DOS.
Someone please prove me wrong.
