    um bullshit.

    90% of all OSX software installs to the applications directory and DO NOT REQUIRE admin password for install.

    the only apps that need admin acces are ones that try to install services or files to the system folder.

    Did you even use a mac or are you making this stuff up? Because in the last 5 years of OSX use at home and work I have NEVER ran into what you are talking about except for highly system invasive apps.

    No, amtrak has a problem that their rates make air travel look cheaper.

    Amtrak from Kalamazoo, MI to Washington DC $890.00 round trip. I can get a flight from the nearest metro airport to DC for 1/2 that and take 2 days less to get there.

    Amtrak is a joke. pay extra for slower travel and disgusting accommodations.. the last Amtrak I rode on was dirty gross..

    Amtrak needs to cut their prices by 2/3 to even attract customers.

    There is already an express train from Chicago to Detroit. It's just not a high speed train but standard light rail on a heavy rail run.

    If you want to stop buying china products them you need to stop buying any Laptop sold in the USA.

    Dont buy Ford, GM or any car made at a car company that has more than 300 employees, Lamborghini does not use any china made components.

    you need to buy from a local artisan. BUT WAIT! that metal he/she used could easily be china made. same for the other raw materials.

    It is almost 100% impossible to not buy a china made something in the USA.

    No it does not. it CLAIMS 10 hours but does not deliver. I want 10 hours solid with wifi blazing and full screen brightness. it delivers a real world 2 hours at that useage level. My Dell studio 17 can do that.

    Well this Fanboi is certian that the Final Cut suite is the ONLY decent video editing platform out there. and Yes I have used them all extensively.. including AVID.

    Problem is that apple is pissing in the cheerios of us that actually use their platform for work. we still have a hugely crappy Bluray authoring solution from them.

    Problem is that a hundred car crashes makes news sound interesting. They fail to mention that there is over 100 car crashes in New york EVERY SINGLE DAY because the population there is gigantic.

    You mean the company you work for hates GPL. The last 5 I worked for, that includes fortune 100 companies like AT&T and Comcast, Loved the GPL and OSS. You should find companies that are nor run by undereducated management that is afraid of the GPL.

    Um no, I use the unlimited data plan to afford it. it's $15.00 a month on my Nokia 5800 I use it for 90% email and 10% other. If they drop the unlimited plan then they will lose me as a customer.

    The douchebags are the AT&T executives. I'm tired of them trying like hell to screw the customer.

    I have some pretty low level access. I can give you the tower ID's my phone can see, I can process SMS messages, etc... I dont do much that is very low level, I have messed with a useful smurfer.. It sends my contact entry to phones. I fire it up, select the phones listed and click, Smurf! it's actually a handy feature and makes the common Business guy think I'm some kind of technology wizard. having access to sms I think you could write a detector/alarm setup to do what you want.

    Do a search for pyS60 and hit the forums, someone there can answer you with a solid answer.

    Excatly, I use AXIS IP cameras for anything new and they work fantastic. I have 8 analog cameras for places wher you cant buy the IP camera that can do what the analogs can do. (0.0007Lux in color, underwater, etc....)

    the bhips are fine it the crappy design of the board and firmware load that causes issues. the china 9.95 cards on ebay are garbage designs that are nearly 15 years old.

    Because you dont know how zoneminder works. If it were to record everything 24/7 blindly.. yes you are right almost zero processor used.. Zoneminder looks at every frame doing motion zones and detection. It's 1000% better than the best commercial DVR you can buy. Really it is. I have tried all them including the high dollar ones, Zoneminder kicks their butts hard.

    Lately that is not good enough. AT&T puts their own screwed up firmware in the Nokias. so you need to not only unlock it but find someone that is good with Cellphones to replace the screwed up carrier version of the OS with the Unlocked unbranded OS that actually has all the features.

    I gave up and simply buy unlocked phones. my Nokia 5800 kicks the iphones ass when PyS60 is installed on it so I can whip up apps in a few minutes and do things the guys with iPhones only wish they could. and that's only because apple is deathly afraid of allowing something like Python on the phone.

    Zoneminder hands down is the best. I have tried several commercial apps and the couple of windows OSS/freeware ones and a linux box with zoneminder kicks their butt IF you have good hardware. If you thin you want to use the $9.95 ebay copies of the typical BT878 cards you will be in for pain and suffering.. Get a good 120fps 4 channel card and you will be very happy.
