In a recent interview for Rolling Stone, Jon Fishman of Phish expressed the opinion that (I'm paraphrasing) if you're a musician who relies on album sales to make a living, you're doing something wrong.
I've been using BitTorrent lately to download lossless recordings of Phish concerts. Each concert is usually about 1GB in size and the transfer rates have been superb. It will start off slowly, but pick up steam once you download parts of the fileset that others have already downloaded. A few hours later and I can burn 3 CDs worth of live music. Excelsior!

For example, official tournaments, which there are many, ussually have rules stating you can only use cards from a certain number of sets back from the current. So, even if I had the exact same card from a set 1 behind that was released in the next set, the little symbol on the card saying it was from the "outdated" set would make it illegal.
Sorry, this couldn't be further from the truth. You can use any old card you want if has been reprinted in one of the tournament legal sets. And for most players, it is desirable to show up at the tourney with the old cards. Makes ya "old school"! FYI old timers, Serra Angel, Sengir Vampire and Erhnam Djinn have all been reprinted in recents sets making their older version more desirable. (Also, Clone will aparently be reprinted in the upcoming expansion Onslaught in October...)
Give me a product, open source or not, that provides my clients (on whose interests I act) with the functionality of Exchange, and I'll get the Purchase Order ready by close of business today.
How about Centrinty FirstClass? Cross platform unified messaging and groupware. I can access my email, voicemail, calendar, contacts from any computer anywhere in the world at a fraction of the cost of Exchange. Don't laugh, it works!
The Dell Dimension 8200 is very similar to that. Push the release button, and you can open up the case just like the Apple cases.
The key difference here though is that the G4 case you don't have to tip over to open up the case. You can open it while it is running without distrubing any of the cables or losing drive access. Beat that!
Was just playing it this morning. The software and gameplay is very good. Most of people's complaints about it however, is the pricing. This may be a good thing. Online players are less likely to make a whopping huge investment in virtual cards. (Like I have in Real Life...ugh!) Thus you can actually have fun playing with crappy decks as you are not repeatedly pummelled by some luser with his $400 pile of rares.
Also, no teenager stench, which is always a bonus...
>What if the lusers turn off their computers at night/at >lunch/whatever? Not just sleep, but off?
Retrospect can be set to backup machines as they are available on the network. Incremental backups can go very quickly with little to no disruption to the end user. Works well for mobile users with laptops...
I'll second this! One of the best pieces of software I've ever used. Does incremental backups. Supports every drive and media you could throw at it. Will even back up to ftp site over internet. Get it! It will save your bacon over and over again.
The best way I've found to convince others of why WideScreen is a good thing is obtain a vhs fullscreen version of the same film. Pop it in your VCR along with the disc version in the DVD player. Start both simutaneously. Switch back and forth between the inputs. They'll get the picture, literally.
One new theory, the Raymo-Chambelin Hypothesis, suggests that the last ice age was triggered by the collision of the Indian subcontinent and Asia, and the subsequent uplift of the Himalayan plateau. This caused a sharp increase in chemical weathering in Southeast Asia which removed CO2 from the atmosphere (reverse greenhouse effect) and dropped temperatures. Cool!
Take a look at IMDB's top 250 movies of all time. [http://us.imdb.com/top_250_films]. Look how many in the top 20 were made in the past 20 years. Only 5 were made before 1970.
This looks like evidence that most of the folks voting on the IMDB weren't born before 1970!
Of course, I think he had enough screen time to qualify for best actor, but they'd never nominate an elderly British actor that most people have never heard of. Have to think of the ratings.
Well that happens when you have a President *coughClintoncough* taking campaign contributions from the foreign government (e.g. China). Before Clinton, China did NOT have Most Favored status EVER.
*cough* Try again. China has had most favored nation status since 1980.
It has a plot? Well, thats one improvement over The Phantom Menace then...
This is +5 funny??? I find it exasperating when folks can't describe why they didn't like a film the invariably resort to "It had no plot." TPM had a plot. You may not have followed it, or thought it tiresome or predictable, but it had a plot.
Actually though, this should have hardly been a surprise to anyone who went to see the re-issues of the original trilogy; it has not aged well, and the first movie which knocked everyone's socks off at the time in particularv is not much better than TPM except in the effects for the time department. Of course today those effects look dated too....
Bravo! I agree completely! I'm not defending TPM as being great. I just don't think it sucks.
No, Lucas's big mistake with TPM was that he created a trite, predictable movie, which assumed that the viewer had the intelligence of a third grader.
Thank you for proving my point. Know-nothing blow-hards don't get it. btw, can you tell me the real reason why the Trade Federation invaded Naboo? Show me you have the intelligence greater than a third grader...
Lucas's big mistake with TPM was creating a more sophisticated plot than the original trilogy. A plot that apparently went completely over the heads of all the Lucas bashers out there.
Hands up out there who realized that the good guys didn't win at the end of TPM.
To my knowledge, Apple is the only computer manufacturer in history not to include an eject button.
They compounded this on the PowerMac 6100 by putting the power button just underneath and to the right of the floppy drive! That was good for a few laughs...

Yeah, Apple is a real threat to the music industry. That's why they gave them a grammy!

Hmm...they did for Gods and Monsters
Proof that Americans can't remember what happened in the entertainment industry for very long.
Or proof that most of the good movies are released at the end of the year on purpose...
