The warning and the advice is good, but Leigh-Anne Galloway (and the article author) provides no data if that is happening or not. It would be interesting to know that from 10 devices bought X came with modified firmware with spyware. But no data is provided.
Why don't the people that make news charge the ISP. Now that there are no Net Neutrality rules now you can try to squeeze out some euros from the ISPs. Or just better, why don't "news companies" get out of the Internet ?
According to Wikipedians everything I wrote is "Not Relevant" and deserves to be deleted. I prefer to store knowledge on the Internet Archive now. http://www.archive.org/
"We're OK With Not Being Super Cool", "We are OK in our niche", "We are OK by only having the smart customers"... this is how fading away starts. OpenOffice is going down the road and they can not feel it while they are on their "1.6 million downloads" comfort zone. This is exactly is happening the Thunderbird, while they are happy with their monthly download rate they don't want to see what others are doing. This is how the begining of the end of the road feels.
I found more useful to support this project on kickstarter that is going to leave to the public open documentation, than supporting Oculus that made some guys rich and sold all the assets to Facebook.
Maybe (personal opinion) the best business model for open source software is "service support" for whatever software he develops. But it depends a lot of what kind of software you are developing. If it is a Game it will be hard to try to get funds for support, but if it a software that can be used on the enterprise it may be interesting to offer professional serious support for the one paying a subscription. If your software if targeted to the enterprise it can be interesting to review Redhat's business model.
If your software is more focused on the "end user" (non corporation) you will have to do continuous campaigns for raising money like using Patreon, requesting money goals for new functionality and asking for donations to continue development.
But no matter if it is open source or close software raising money is always a nag.
This was better explained on the petition "As a user of React.JS in an ASF top-level project (Apache CouchDB), please consider re-licensing React.JS under similar terms. Otherwise, many ASF projects such as our own will have to stop relying on and building with React."
People that request the change of license of ReactJS want to sue Facebook? That is not a good explanation on why they request a license change. It will be better if the slashdot post explains better the reassons (real reassons) why there are people requesting the change of license.
Can Sci-Hub use the US copyright 107 for defend?
"(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;"

Multivac will choose your next president.

Can someone track OS/2's source code? It seems that IBM misplaced it ;)

We all know that StarTrek runs in a parallel universe where OS/2 Warp was the winning OS of the 90's OS Wars. https://youtu.be/WCKr-2EJxE4?t...
I'm looking for a better video by they way.
I think Slashdot should try to make a "Metric First" campaign and apply it to its news posts.
And by the way "morality" is a thing of people, not software.

Yes. It is super cool. https://riot.im/app/#/room/%23...
And the important thing. The Web version works on OS/2 Warp. https://riot.im/app/#/room/%23...
Check Riot (Client) and Matrix.org
I will stop reading slashdot someway.

The Internet Archive is a better way to upload videos to be archived. archive.org
..on completing the OS/2 open source OS clone :)
I'm open to help !!!
