Maybe they're upset because Watchmen, despite its fairly uncompromising storytelling, was not what you would call and R rated comic. With the exception of Manhattan's big blue genitals, sexual references were fairly tame.
Having recently read the novel, I'd have to disagree. There was plenty of sexuality throughout the comic, in addition to cases of extreme violence as well as rape.
The novel is oriented toward an adult audience. There is no reason why the film shouldn't be as well.
Throwing flour and paint and other things is simply unacceptable. It's a stretch to call it assault, but it is still invading your personal space in an effort to force you to comply with their ideas of good behavior.
It isn't a stretch to call it assault at all. It's also vandalism, and it is illegal. You can take them to court for damages.
I use a Verizon 3G wireless usb on my Ubuntu box and it couldn't be simpler.
Run gnome-ppp
Device:/dev/ACM0
Type: USB
Click 'Connect'
That's all there is to it.
Simpler would be "run gnome-ppp, it detects devices, prompts with the devices in an understandable language, asks for a phone #, and goes."
This is already too close to the hardware for a regular user. The user also has to be aware that gnome-ppp is what they should use to connect to the internet.
It doesn't restrict your choice to use GPL'd code or not. If you link to code that is GPL'd, and you have issues with the GPL restricting your freedoms, then you seriously need to rethink your methodology.
How many people here work in some company that has an indexed collection of names and addresses, even SSN#s? You're trusted with that information, but the information is available to so many hands that there's no way it's private.
This includes your Credit Card number, though I'm thinking, they just pulled up your billing address or obtained it from the bank.
The issue is one of punishment. You cannot raise children without some form of punishment or correction for bad behavior. For those people who have no psychological issues with spanking, it is a marvelous tool for keeping the kiddos in line. For others, who think it's the work of the devil (with little reason outside of a vivid imagination), there are such things as timeout.
One way or another, the child will be given a far less pleasing alternative to shutting up. It is important to impart the inevitability of the alternative. Invariably, the kid will learn to not make a scene.
Kids whining, complaining, throwing tantrums, and the rest, are just trying to exert their only form of control over the parent. This is a dominance issue. It is the parents' prerogative to ensure that they are not dominated / controlled by their child.
Do you have any plans to address imbalances in racial abilities? As an example, a Night Elf's 1% to dodge and "little extra" nature resistance is nowhere near as valuable as the Human racials. The Troll and Orc racials are also far more valuable as a whole, to most classes, then any others.
I specced out a machine with Apple. It came to ~$4k, while a *better* specced machine (hardware + OEM Vista) came to $1.5k.
Unless you're saying that the Apple "support" costs $2.5k, which is more than the cost of a whole other computer, then the cost is figured in elsewhere. It's either support, software, or brand. I believe that MacOS is firmly entrenched in the Apple branding, which makes it a far more expensive product than Vista will ever be.
My place of employment recently hired on a junior programmer, and I believe is looking for several more. Just don't expect to do any real programming - odds are, you'll be creating reports, rearranging gui widgets, or any number of other tedious tasks.
It COULD be comedy gold if you stripped the real identities from the responses before you make fun of them (even then it's a little prickish, considering you BAITED them). If you reveal the real identities of these duped people, it's not comedy. It's just being a mean-spirited, malicious asshole.
So, I'm to take it that people should not be held accountable for the actions that they take online?
I understand the outrage, and even the desire to punish, but this is purely the result of a shattered ego. Anyone who responded to the ad with a proposition was under the impression that they could do it without suffering the embarrassment that comes along with it. The moment that it went public is the moment that they were held accountable for their actions.
If someone doesn't want to suffer embarrassment for their actions, perhaps they shouldn't act in an embarrassing way?
This is Diablo that we're talking about. The Gameplay is already defined, and extremely simple.
There are few things that distinguish Diablo from D2. One was higher resolutions and more colors. Another was outdoor environments besides the starting town - Diablo was completely underground and D2 was mostly above ground. Other changes were more classes, new abilities, named item sets; things that were not ground-breaking, as far as gameplay goes.
Diablo is a dungeon hack game. The most important thing that will distinguish D3 from D2 and Diablo, is how it looks.
I imagine it has more to do with the haze that envelopes the mind of someone who doesn't care.
When put in layman's terms, someone can grasp the differences between titles "Linux 2.4" and "Linux 2.6." The distinction starts to go away when you start talking about differences between "Linux 2.6.21" and "Linux 2.6.23." It is unnecessary obfuscation.
Versioning methods are probably just a pet peeve. Most anyone will comment on a pet peeve, even if it's something as mundane as cat hair left on a scratching post.
While we are just "most likely"ing, I'd say that most likely this isn't the case given that many times over Blizzard staff has publicly affirmed that one person playing numerous characters simultaneously is acceptable, never claiming that this required ONE computer per ONE copy. I know plenty of people that have played multiple characters on one machine at the same time (me being one of them) and none of us have gotten sued.
Or, to put it another way - You don't sue your highest paying and most addicted customers.
The excellence in education of any given child is extremely dependent upon the abilities of the teacher. Poor teachers will bore the intelligent kids, which can lead to behavioral problems. Good teachers will stimulate the kids, but could end up leaving the slow kids behind.
This makes a very clear case for segregating the classroom based on learning propensity. It happens, to some extent, with various gifted programs and tiers of class difficulty. This may not be enough, though, or applied early enough. K-6 sees all of the kids clumped together in one classroom, with only slight variations. Only at the 7th grade level does this change, and not nearly enough.
I wouldn't be surprised if alternate methods, like Montessori become more prevalent in the future. It seems like those are the "way to go," as they account for the fact that every child is unique and different, and serve to remove the sausage factory assembly line style of education we have right now.

Ok, I'm far from an expert on SQL, but if NULL doesn't represent "unknown" in SQL, then why does
select 1 from dual where 1 not in (2,3,NULL);
return an empty set?
It returns an empty set because NULL means 'nothing.' No data. 1 is not 2, 3, or nothing.
If it were unknown, then the result of a check of 1 against (2,3, null) would be null - because the value of null is undetermined.

Ultimately, Vista costs more than all it's competitors but does less and does it poorly.
There is no way that you can convince me that Vista is more expensive than MacOS.

This pile of rant got +5 Insightful?
GNU is a UNIX clone. Linux is a kernel, one that had a pretty original design.

He was the Riddler, not the Joker.

What happens when you're using dual monitors?
