    It's a prompt that you get when first starting the application itself. As it tries to access the service, it asks. Some apps already did so, but others did not. Now, they all ask, and you can selectively allow them access to location services.

    The only case that makes sense to me is when I send a gift and I'm as late ordering it as I usually am.

    And that case isn't very strong, because there are other delivery options through Fedex or UPS that do deliver on Saturdays.

    The way it works is that you register the game on the internet from anywhere. You enter the CD key, and then you receive a Battle.Net ID key in response. You copy / paste that key to your computer, and you'll be able to install the game at any time, wherever, whenever. You can "register" without even installing the client.

    That's how the D2 and WC3 clients work, which are also available for download, without need of a CD.

    I doubt that. The sense of entitlement is more of a human trait than an American one.

    The difference probably arises from the ubiquitous nature of the SUV in the US vs. the lack in the UK. Accidents involving SUVs and cars are more likely to have fatalities than accidents between cars and cars. SUVs are also far more common in the US.

    Maybe this is why Macs are so expensive for the same hardware.

    You must have missed the article that compared Mac hardware prices to equivalent hardware from Dell, Sony, and a few others. Mac isn't more expensive for the same hardware.

    Unfortunately, it does come with some crapware: iTunes

    Which isn't running until you start it.

    The point of the article was that the 'crapware' was only instances where the presence and loading of additional / unnecessary software causes a performance hit. iTunes doesn't fall into this category.

    I was turned down for a job on the basis that I didn't spend enough spare time programming. They wanted to know what my off-hours activities were, which consist of video games, exercise, and hitting the town with my girl. They wanted someone who was more into coding, who was "passionate" about it.

    The way I see it, I'm extremely confident in my capabilities. If they don't trust those capabilities, because I spend my time doing things that I would say are more enjoyable than programing, then it's their loss.

    If these sales tactics did not increase the sales, then they would not be used (and make no mistake, they are used). Doctors may deny that they are swayed, and may honestly believe it, but the numbers don't lie.

    It isn't really true. Most doctors put in so much time and effort to get to where they are, that they come off as a bit arrogant. In this sense, it's a good thing. You do not want anybody making decisions for treatment except your doctor.

    Pharmaceuticals get marketed to the patients, who then go to their doctor and insist on that treatment course. Some doctors might go along with it, but an overwhelming majority say no.

    Were I Apple, I'd drop people who charged for it.

    iTunes has gotten to a saturation point with so many artists that the ones who demand payment would just have to be the ones who afford to lose out on that market. iTunes doesn't *need* them, anymore, and neither does Amazon.

    I've seen FIFA on the iphone. It works by using a controller interface overlay. It's not that bad, really.

    ASP.NET runs on mod_mono as well as IIS. Going by definitions, there is no practical difference between the two.

    Many. This is a bit of a ridiculous question. Live.com / bing runs on an ASP.NET architecture. Godaddy.com runs on ASP.NET. Plenty of companies run both Java and .NET solutions at the enterprise level, mine is one of them.

    What does C# give me that Java doesn't?

    It's just another language and platform to choose from. In that, it offers choice. Granted, there isn't anything in Java that you can't do with .NET, but the same goes the other way around. .NET does offer many newer things, like LINQ and Silverlight... things that haven't become available in Java.

    FWIW, the CLR only has to process .NET bytecode once before it's converted to native code. The argument about VMs killing performance is pretty bunk.

    As a platform, .NET has far more in common with Delphi than it does with Java. It even shares a common creator.

    Y'all never read the darn articles.

    What they've found is that the difference in representation isn't justified by biological differences OR barriers and that the child rearing social role plays a big factor.

    I'm not sure about that. Bearing children seems to be a pretty large biological difference.
