I would agree with you that the 3D obsession in the past 10 years was kind of silly. It all had to be 3d all of a sudden, and it ruined many games. For example the old Worms was fun, the 3D version sucks so bad.
However, the introduction of physics is actually something that I am not complaining about. I love too see how debris tumbles down and stuff. And I like the current trend of 2D gravity games as well.
What do you mean with 'the second law implies heat death'? Who is going to die? Humanity, the universe,...
If you mean that in the end the universe will get very hot because of entropy, that would be wrong because the universe is continuously expanding. In the end it will be kind of lukewarm, or cold, because all warmth has spread out.
I agree! You know, I sometimes think that society would be better of if we didn't believe in free will. We would no longer be able to judge a person, only try to understand. This would be a major step forward.
My point is that if there is no free will, then there is *only* cause and effect. So a judge would no longer be able to tell somebody that he is a 'bad' person because of his actions. The judge can only conclude that he is 'defective'. And it would require some changes in how to deal with criminals.
It matters a lot for law. If free will does not exist then morally judging a persons behavior is meaningless. It would require us to rethink the justice system.
I find it remarkable that today the survival of Microsoft is seriously questioned. I think that this was not yet the case last year.
Things really are changing...
According to Spiral Dynamics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral_Dynamics), a theory about human development, Google would be categorized as a company that has reached Second Tier. More specifically level Yellow. Yellow thinking follows the philosophy to "Express self for what self desires, but to avoid harm to others so that all life, not just own life, will benefit."
I really believe Google is not evil. I think they are honestly trying to create win-win situations, with the biggest win for humanity instead of themselves.
Nothing wrong with some out of the box thinking.
Btw, you are free to ignore the responses you don't like and focus on the ones that you do find helpful.
If it's a software application then it can be made self-modifying easily.
How is Belgium notorious for its disruptive behavior on the Internet?
You can see it here: http://iphone3g.mobistar.be/nl/iphone3g.cfm
It's 557.84 + VAT. I don't know about recycling tax exactly..
675 EUR for an iPhone 3GS (32 GB) that is unbound to a provider or contract. That's the price here in Belgium.
A year of staying under 1500 calories a day? Isn't that extreme?

Wow, that's kind of drastic! Did it work out well?
Here in Belgium it's called Mexican flu.
Seems to be a step forward from CO2 producing coal.

3 degrees of separation from Vladimir Putin!
That's probably the most .. Ah never mind.

Maybe it's that mighty 2% market share. After TWENTY FIVE years of effort. Microsoft must be terrified at that sort of "rapid" growth.
Growth is probably exponential, which would justify Microsoft's worry.
Seems that anti-microsoft sentiment again dominates the discussion. Couldn't it simply be that Microsoft is taking a step in the right direction?
3 is the color blue for me.

Also create an admin account that you only know the password of. And give them a standard user account so that they can't mess up their system.
Wikipedia has proven time and time again that "openness" will be corrupted just as easily as anything else.
Yet Wikipedia is one of the most useful Internet websites. The good outweighs the bad.

I may not like everything that Microsoft has done in the past, but its C and C++ references are top notch: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dtefa218.aspx
I think this would be great for setting up an automated backup system.
