    Why does our public transportation system suck ? Blame the automobile industry. Why would they want people to pay X to ride a bus around when they REALLY SHOULD have their own auto (with all the associated wear and tear/etc.)..

    The US is interested in itself. Nothing more. Why do you think our TV industry (VHS/NTSC) isn't compatible with the rest of the world (PAL) ? Whe6y do you think regional encoding came to be ?

    Control. They want us to see the drivil that they want us to see, nothing more.

    Umm.. If the license hasn't changed, You KNOW that DJB is quite aware of it (Hell.. He changed the license so that you COULD distribute a binary version of it.. )

    What has changed is that Theo desides to get a bug up his ass again..

    I'm trying to figure out what he would make now, openqmail ?

    He gets mad about someone developer not licking his ass, drops their software from the OpenBSD distribution and forces all the users to build and install it from source.

    Secure OS ? Comeon.. What does he install instead of qmail, Sendmail ? Thats about as secure as the lock on Madonna's chastity belt..

    But what he did is perfectly legal in his country.

    They require that you be able to create back up copies of your products.

    What do you think would happen if EVERY GEEK in this country went and formed a class action suit against all the companies that use copy protection schemes. We might have a case because we have the right to create a backup copy of our electronic media.

    Oh good.. I am NOT the only won who thinks this..


    He is the EXACT reason why I won't run Open BSD on my systems (I will admit that I use OpenSSH though).


    The old addage of you can catch more flies with honey than vinigar needs to be tought to Theo.


    If he TRULY wants to have people using his OS, then he needs to take a chill pill and STOP ACTING CHILDISH...

    Please.. He was a programmer.. He was told to write a program to allow Russian e-book users to make backup copies of their ebooks (fair use).


    How does make him the bad guy ? His company didn't do it to make illegal copies of ebooks (you still NEED the valid key).. They made it to facilitate the LEGAL USE of backing up the ebook.

    Well.. If its a portion of a system that you are working on with others then it IS very important to keep up to date.


    I am working on the Linux HA Procject by porting it to FreeBSD (and helping out with Solaris as well)... and I need to keep my system totally up to date.

    They didn't define 'extended' periods ? 10 minutes , 20 ?

    As for the pain of CTS I know it all to well (thank God for my Kinesis keyboard)... I also had surgery in Feb to repair torn ligiments and shorten the arm bone (the cause of the torn ligaments). After that my CTS improved in that arm (now I just pray that my other arm gets better)....

    You have a right to demand ? No.. They offer a service, if you like it you stay.. if not you leave (after your contract is up)...

    The problem is bandwidth and the potential for idiots to run Windows NT/98 IIS servers (can you say 'Code Red' - I've already have 6000 hits by infected machines..)..

    And as to limiting port 25.. One word SPAM. They want to cut down on the potential for spamming using their dialup but someone else's mail relay.

    Because somewhere burried in your TOS (that you MUST have signed) you agreed NOT to run any servers...

    If you run a server, I can't fault them for wanting you to purchase a business account.

    It would kill alot of people.. Why the hell would I continue to work then ? If I could NEVER make any more money, why would I even try ?

    What about the places in the country that have a lower cost of living (like the south and mid west) ? Is it fair that their 100K is more like 200K here ?

    Its not a matter of would it work ( It won't ).. Its a matter of is it fair ? It goes against democracy (and borders on communism).. Why the fsck should the govt. get any of my money JUST because its over some arbitrary limit ?

    The govt should have LESS money (and less function).. That's why I voted libertarian last election...
