    Yeah. Good luck with that. Companies need people who aren't "blind" programming. The will always need good "computer scientists" who can look at a design and see the defects before any coding is done to save the company $$$ and time getting to market.

    They'll also need people who can LOOK at the code from the kids and make sure that whet they're writing is actually, I don't know... FUNCTIONAL ?

    Too many companies are short sighted in their hiring/retention practices and forget that people with experience have just that, EXPERIENCE. They're used to looking at a problem and seeing solutions (or at least seeing the problems and working around them).

    Why ? Because people had been sold "Unlimited Plans" which mean unlimited. Its not the end users' fault if they oversold their network or "oversold" the network.

    If I paid for unlimited electricity and found it being metered, I'd be pissed.

    If you have an active contract for unlimited, and they're defaulting, ask a lawyer about it. They would be in breech of contract at that point and you could (potentially) sue for damages.

    And I'd like to add that XP support is available even today, so to imply some kind of forced upgrade is disingenuous at best.

    Yeah. It is Per: here, however its supported for 1 more year at MOST. Then you're screwed if you want newer software (like tax prep software from the big companies, or use other commercial products).

    I have a Windows Based Laptop (for one reason, It CAME with my OS and the hardware currently isn't supposed fully under linux) and I also needed the ability to VPN to work (ONLY Windows based VPN clients). As for my gaming system, There's no way in hell an XBOX makes it into my house. I have a PS2, a PS3, and a WII.

    Actually there is a way to do it using some free tools and Kindle Reader (at least on Windows). It'll open the book then save it without DRM

    You sure about that ? From what I've seen, most people who have an Apple Product will forever purchase OTHER Mac products. They will purchase EVERY thing that Mac puts out (How many different Mac Laptop/Desktop have you owned/do you own, how many different version of iPad or their MP3 Players ?)

    Perhaps you're different, I don't know.

    What federal law were they citing ? Oh they weren't citing a specific law because there aren't any !

    The TSA has a "policy", it is NOT a law that you have to have your junk felt up to travel. At least no yet it isn't...

    I'm doing web testing using Selenium. I have my log file up on one screen and the other screen is where my 13 firefox browsers for the app suite show up. Yes, I do use a single screen (when I VPN to work from home and I'm using my home laptop) to Rdesktop into my work machine. When I run my tests on the single montior, I have to just run the tests,then wait until they're finished to look at the log file.

    Imagine two kids in a science class, and one copies the other's project. The first kid wouldn't say "hey, you infringed on my intellectual property!", he'd say "hey, you stole my idea!".

    And the teacher would say the 2nd kid "plagiarized" the 1st kids work. Its not the same thing as denying a software producer additional income. They have not had their property stolen (i.e. install discs, etc.) but they've had their product copied (which denies them a sale but does not remove from them any property).

    The best solution ?

    Get yourself a Discover Card and use their "Single Use" credit card numbers. Once its used it can't be used anywhere else BUT on PSN and by your account. And you can easily generate a new one every single time you "fill" your account.

    I'm just pissed that now I have go through the hassles and headaches of getting all the accounts updated. Thank god I run my own mail server so that only my playstation email was compromised and that will now get updated.

    Such a freaking pain in the arse, time to get a password safe and use a unique password EVERYWHERE online...

    However they've stopped giving a crap about what is important to us. They now focus on one thing - re-election. Everything else is irrelevant (except passing laws that help the companies that make the big campaign bribes... I mean contributions).

    No.. I'd allow them to duplicate the hard drive.. NOTHING MORE. And then validate it with a checksum on the drive (compared to your original).

    At least this way they don't get the hardware but they DO get the information on it.

    And you demand the checksum be recalculated by a 3rd party AFTER they've done their "inspection" and it better be 100% the same.

    Yup. I have my Nokia synching to my Outlook Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks.
