The people lending them money could see where it was going, there was a roadmap to profitability.

Tesla has a road to profitability too. They expect to actually be profitable in the third and fourth quarter (before they start sinking money into Model Y development and go negative again, probably). Same story with Model S and X: each time, they had one or two profitable quarters before they started pouring money into the next model. Model 3 should have a very healthy profit margin, and it looks like Elon is extremely confident they are going to crush expectations in only a couple of months from now.

Imagine coding under pressure and then the CEO sets up camp in your office...

If that CEO was a pointy-haired boss, that would be bad. But if the CEO spends 80% of his time doing actual engineering and helping you solve the problems you encounter instead of telling you to work harder, I imagine it actually creates the kind of atmosphere where everyone wants to work as hard as they can without the boss even asking. Makes them feel they are working with him rather than for him.

Well, dolphins are completely different from us as well, yet nobody has a problem calling them mammals instead of fish.

It all depends on the definition. In fact, according to the Cambridge Dictionary, these cockroaches are definitely mammals. "Mammal, noun, any animal of which the female feeds her young on milk from her own body. "

The American English version lower on that same page, adds "gives birth to babies. not eggs", so I guess Americans don't consider a platypus to be a mammal, but are still perfectly OK with cockroaches being mammals. At least, according to Cambridge.

Disclaimer: yes, I know, Cambridge apparently sucks at biology.

A Porsche Cayenne pulled an A380 last year, which is twice the weight of a Dreamliner, so I would have expected a lot better from a model X.

I'm an absolute Tesla fanboy, but this is seriously underwhelming. Surely a model X can outtow a Cayenne?! This makes it seem like electric cars are still inferior to ICE cars and therefore need their own category for Guiness world records. Tesla should be ashamed of this "record" instead of boasting about it on their Twitter feed.

Mine is shit too. Noisy as hell compared to the thicker mushier keys on my old laptop, the arrow up/down keys only register if you press them hard enough (press them softly, and it feels like the key came down all the way but it doesn't register as a key press), the return key stopped working one day (but started working again after some strong wiggling, probably one of those infamous specks of dust), I can't wait for the next key to fail.

And don't get me started on the control strip above the keyboard, which would be great if it didn't register the slightest accidental brush of a partial finger as "send mail" or "clear calculator input" etc. That thing really ought to be force sensitive. (Fortunately the "Send Mail" button in Mail can be disabled in the settings). But I digress, that's not really a mechanical defect, just a bad design choice.
