There are still things computers can't compute on their own, only by giving them many test cases.

Example: ask a random question like "Five of Ann's friends are Tom's too and Ann has fifteen friends. How many friends does the girl have that the boy doesn't know?".

That question is easy for a human but hard to parse by a computer: you can alternate between calling them boy/girl or by name, between using words or digits for numbers, you can use different scenarios.

The question is easy to generate randomly and pretty easy for a human to answer.

  2. Re:I don't get it on Now Even Photo CAPTCHAs Have Been Cracked · · Score: 1

You could ask things that require human thought, not just parsing. Something like object A is larger than B and C is smaller than A, then put some options like C is the smallest, B is the largest, etc. Then bots would need a new level of thinking and we'll be safe for a few more (tens of?) years.

Well this discovery is probably part of that idea. If there are huge structures beyond our observable Universe (the guy said something like hundreds of billions of light years) then our observable Universe is probably not actually in the center of it. I guess this is exactly like the geo-centrism but on a larger scale.

Yes, they argued that those structures may come from the big bang itself but that means they traveled many times faster than light which is maybe more improbable.

Disclaimer: I'm not much of an expert on astrophysics either.

I think that Wikipedia is more than just an enciclopedia right now, considering how many articles talk about trivial subjects. It's more like a conglomeration of human knowledge and I think that if someone took out the time to write a 1000word page on something there are many people that will want to see it, no matter the subject.

Finding the criminals might not be much easier but I think the system is a really good thing because you then have real time proof given of what happened. Suppose someone killed someone else while you were there. First, you can send a picture/movie of the criminal (they know who it is which is probably the hardest part of a crime investigation) and second you can make sure you are not accused of anything, you wouldn't have to be afraid of getting charged yourself, I reckon people avoid calling the police because of that. Also, this might actually stop the criminal from doing anything, just point the phone at him, dial 911 and tell him the police are seeing him.

Your analogy is wrong: once you put the diesel in the car working on gasoline you can consider it used (you can't put it back easily and it's probably mixed with other fuel in the tank). If you buy a piece of clothing and you find it doesn't fit, you should be able to return it in a small amount of time as long as it's obvious you didn't wear it more than to try it on. The same should go for games, if you return the game in a few days you should get a refund since you probably didn't get to finish it or try all the content.

Also, see the other poster about updates.

You can't make a game without a minimum protection and requesting for a key seems pretty OK to me. Of course you could argue that it's pointless because people who want to pirate the game will pirate it anyway but you shouldn't make it too easy for them though. The average user might think that since it doesn't ask for a password it's free for everyone.
