That's a very good point.
An ideal strategy to not get enough bugs would be to fund one of the popular linux distros, build a community of developers and companies around it to flush out all the bugs.
Yahoo is following a similar strategy for Hadoop (an open source distributed file system).

These laws probably made more sense when publishers had to keep an inventory of books and publishing books on demand was unheard of.

I ddoubt if this is really going to get them significant market share in the server market. They have to come up with something utterly compelling or partner with the likes of yahoo to use their platform.

I'd rather spend the dollars raising awareness against cocaine/drug addiction.
Nevertheless congratulations to the researchers. Its definitely a great breakthrough.

This is unbelievable. If Microsoft didn't have the office monopoly, I doubt they would have made it default.

If the passports are going to have the wireless technology built it, I hope they have taken utmost care to make it safe from hackers . Network/wireless sniffing is extremely easy. The electronic passports must be safe from simple attack like network sniffing/packet replay etc.
That said, its a great move and a step in the right direction.

It doesn't seem right to ask for money on Lancor's part. But why are they asking for damages to begin with? I would really like to know that before I buy into OLPC's side of the story.

I hope this is not a joke!!

==> An 'incorrectly filled out' ballot should not be counted by definition, right????

Ubuntu's dapper and feisty distros are free and have better long term support than redhat's fedora. The keyword here is 'longterm'. listen_to_slashdot
