In some cases, possibly moreso. 'Omnibox' makes repeated queries to the server to figure out what you want from it. Increased network activity == more battery drain, right?

Cases go unreported, and reported cases get disputed by whichever interested authorities exist. Said disputes don't change the fact that people really are dying from this.
Everyone else is going off on their wild theories of how ISS will come crashing to the ground because of this, but in truth this worm won't even try to interact with their relevant systems.
If you've ever stood near a pizza oven (a typical one, which is what this method will utilize), you know that no little amount of energy is lost into the surrounding area. In both places that I've worked in which Pizza was made, the room containing the oven wouldn't drop below 99F unless the oven was actually turned off.
You truly expect that this new production method would take so long to complete? Or do you simply believe that the solar panels have the lifespan of a fruit fly?
The economic feasability of this hinges on whether what you expend is greater than what you receive. The point of the project was to distribute cheap/free solar panels to other countries. You cannot achieve said 'cheap/free' if you're taking a substantial net loss in producing them. Therefore, in a very short way, I proposed that the culmination of steps 1 and 2 would be that the oven would run entirely on sustainable free energy. The moment you begin to collect more energy than you're using, you have a net gain that can begin even to offset maintenance costs. In this way, a single oven could be made to operate 'free.' This would strongly contribute to the aforementioned economic feasability and as such would make it very possible to reach the intended goal, of deploying these panels to other countries that need them.
Utilize renewable energy sources to power the oven
After oven is completely 'free,' deploy cells to countries that need it
To respond to your other point.. do you mean functional lifetime or projected lifetime? I can easily see them in their projected lifetime compensating for the energy used to bake them. However, their functional lifetime may be significantly lower than projected, either due to natural disasters or the onset of Armageddon.

Many blind persons are accustomed to 'reading' braille, for which it is absolutely necessary that you 'train' your fingers to increased sensitivity so as to distinguish one group of bumps from another.
One limb was lost in the original attempt to restore their mother's life, the second limb was sacrificed in saving his little brother's life by transferring him into a suit of armor. I don't remember which limb was lost when.:)
The coin counter in the bank that I work at has Windows 2000 on it.
The tech told me that our particular machine used to have XP on it, but that particular installation had become very unstable. The code that ran on XP, he noted, ran much faster for them having removed a lot of inessential modules that the brazillian programmers had added to preempt feature requests but then never finished. In the 2k version, these were all loading and (don't ask me what language they were using, or how pitiable the programming was) he indicated that this significantly increased the load time.
I was pretty shocked. Not quite as shocked though, as when I was handed his USB flash drive so that I could put a.bmp of our logo on it, this flash drive containing oodles of setup files and information from other banks.
I used to hear jokes about restricting the internet/technology to people who fell above a certain IQ. I think that idea should be revisited.:)

sorry but the GP is wrong it should be rum amok.
Glad to see that someone on Slashdot sees the negative and chaotic consequences of alcohol consumption!

Seconded.

Mod parent informative.

I know, don't feed the trolls. Sorry.
See http://hardware.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=652803&cid=24688095 above. It's not actually using Ink, just the Inkjet printer.

And yes, I'm male.
*checks URL* Yep, still Slashdot.
Mod parent redundant! :P
I lol'd quite hard. Sometimes it's the simplest observations. :)

Your ideas are interesting, and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

I would happily have modded you redundant, but then I backed up and realized that would be much too obvious. </snicker>

Why, oh WHY did I squander my mod points?
Honorary +1 funny! :)

I personally prefer to have solid notions. They're more stable, easier to execute.
