Everything fell apart here for a lot of people. The people trapped in the Superdome and Convention Center turned on each other like animals. Society is back to normal now but for a few weeks this place had a total societal breakdown.

From swb: "My guess is with the right employee uniform you can get away with going a lot of places you don't belong. You could probably do some serious mayhem in the local telco uniform as this would probably get you into any wiring closet in the building, and often they have patch panels and switches for local networks." Absolutely true. I have worked as a computer tech for years and moved to doing cabling and fiber so I frequently need access to areas that should be secure. I don't even wear a company shirt and I can talk my way into almost any non government building with a tool bag and a smile. Paperwork usually helps too. "Hey do you know where the data closet is? They sent me to check out the blah blah blah...". "Sure it is right this way." If you ask for a key they might toss you the whole key chain and tell you to drop them off on your way out. I live in New Orleans so people are pretty friendly.

In New Orleans and other Parishes in LA, the cops work "Details". A Detail is essentially off duty private guard duty at about twice the normal rare of pay. For example sitting in banks, jewelry stores, outside local bars, wedding receptions and private parties. They are off duty but are in full uniform and have full authority. If you cause trouble they will cuff you and call a fellow on duty officer to take you to jail. They are paid by the business so when the establishment is a bar or a private party they are often being paid to look the other way on some things but otherwise keep things safe for the patrons. For years the Detail Assignments were assigned by seniority. I believe that has changed after scandals and favoritism issues.

You are asking for proof of something that is "believed in". That is not how it works. (r) religion is based on faith. For me, I don't need physical proof to believe. I just do and with the same certainty that you believe otherwise. It is your choice what to believe. Being told there is no choice (Atheist) is no better than being told which choice I have to make (Religion).
