Not exactly news, but looks like a comprehensive article (just skimmed it, didn't read).
I remember reading about this years ago. The expansion of the early universe was due to strong gravity repelling instead of attracting, IIRC. Maybe someone can correct me if they know.
To use an analogy: space is the surface a balloon, and light is a snail on the surface of that balloon. Even if nothing can go faster than the snail on that balloon you can still blow up the balloon so it exapnds faster than the snail can go.
I totally agree, but I also think that without Waters there is also no Pink Floyd. Sure he got stale and depressive by The Wall (the Long moan), but the stuff before that is awesome. And regarding The Final Cut: It's a great Waters album, just not a great Pink Floyd album.
As for the post-Waters era, A momentary lapse of reason is good, but I don't think its a typical Floyd album, this one you could probably split into single tracks, except for the new machines. Division Bell is a great piece of Pink Floyd music, and a great album listened to as a whole and if you chop it up it doesn't do it justice.
I read somewhere (maybe slashdot story or an ars technica article, can't remember) that multi platform games are dificult to develop because of the underlying hardware differences, specifically the CPU(s) and they have to take the number and types of CPUs installed in the system into account. For example, the PS3 has 1 GP core an several vector cores while PCs have 1, 2 or 4 GP cores, and the threading systems have to be completely different. And XBox has a different CPU as well (3 PPC cores, but I may have made it up). The PS3 also has far less RAM than an average PC, and this also has to be taken into account while deevloping games.
And the governments will quickly realise this is the time to announce all the unpopular decisions that might invoke dissatisfaction among the population. If we still have governments(see New World Order).
We actually did something like that once in class. Only it was a dog, there were several reels, a greater distance(across town, specified, but I can't remember how far), and at a specified speed. It was kind of fun, much better than calculating anything real-life.
Maybe off-topic but applicable non the less.
When I'm on one of my coding benders I often consciously deny myself a break, except a couple of minutes for a smoke, during which I think about the code I'm writing and how to continue. Food? Something that can be eaten with my left hand (I'm a rigty) so I still have the other hand free for typing, although at a slower pace. One time during the summer I was alone for two weeks and I spent something like 10-12 hours a day coding. Sometimes, when I'm coding late at night and just get something working it's like I just started coding and it's back to square one energy-wise. So sleep (or lack of it) is not an issue for at least a couple of hours and when it becomes an issue I just give myself a little pick-me-up(figure it out). Of course the fingers tend to get a bit more freedom as to which keys to type, but that's what the backspace key is for. If I can hit it:) It is when I just sit there with no idea of what to code, when I know I really need to go to bed.
The Americans have a choice between:
1) A black male president - D
2) A white female president - D
3) A white male president - R
Somehow I don't think that the Democrats are going to win this one...
I wonder when we will finally be able to buy laptops without any OS at all on them. I bought a HP Compaq with freeDos installed. Had to DL all windows drivers, the good news is the comp is SUSE 10.3 certified so I had no driver issues (thank god).

I think between the lines he meant that they already banned rectangular bananas.
That inanimate carbon rod was worker of the week, you insensitive clod!
OK this is the plan... wait... I thought they left this galaxy
...ooooh short answer yes with an if, long answer no with a but...
So they're making a browser that can run native code, and an OS that can't?
And since when is air guitar NOT cool? :P
without Gilmour there isn't a Pink Floyd.

Probably thousands upon thousands of LOTR fans asking: "Hey, do you know where the entrance to Moria is?"
You appear to be assuming that people have their status bar visible.
Me know it them, 'cause they no use good grammar.
Indeed, and as more knowledge is available, we'll evolve away from religion.
And then there will only be AAA, UAA and UAL.
Actually 6 x 9 = 42

Finally I said screw it, re-did my CSS, and used tons and tons of div elements.
Ditto!
