    Doesn't graphite do the same thing, more or less?

    For geeks with AMD CPUs and old ATI graphics cards, a sharp pencil was almost mandatory.

    Silver pens were permanent. If you fried your chip with the "pencil lead" mod, all you needed to do was grab your eraser and RMA!

    Insanely fast? I have Zimbra Webmail open in a tab (the only open tab at the moment), and it's almost unresponsive it's so slow. I'm waiting upwards of 10 seconds between clicking on an unread email and it opening in the preview pane below.

    I also have the same interface open in Chrome. It's instantaneous.

    Yeah, so, as usual I've uninstalled Opera, having been promised more than was delivered.

    Those numbers add up to the 25PB/year that they store. The other 99.9999% (really) is filtered our at the detectors before being "sent back".

    Ah, thanks for that. I was under the impression that the computer centre would be discarding the unused data, but if the detectors are smart enough to do it then all the better!

    That's a few orders of magnitude short of 1 Petabyte, folks. Where are these numbers coming from?

    Don't worry, the large size won't be an issue. You can put it in a ZIP and then put that into another ZIP and so on.

    That's just stupid. They use the same compression algorithm!

    Put it in a ZIP in a TAR in a RAR in a 7z in an ACE in a bZip in a CAB in a dmg in a a ARJ, and finally save it as a GIF. You can't use JPEG as it's lossy.

    I do buy games often, and enjoyed (most of) the Resident Evil series. Capcom have joined EA, Sony and Ubisoft on my list of companies to avoid at all costs. It's a small list, but that just makes it easy to remember.

    Confirmed lost sales due to shafting the customer: 1, and counting.

    There are other jobs. Jobs which don't involve partially undressing and touching children and asking elderly terminally ill people to remove their incontinence garments.

    The TSA needs to die harder than the MPAA / RIAA, and a lot sooner. Hopefully by Joe Bloggs getting some sense of common decency and telling them to stick their disgusting policies everywhere the Enhanced patdown procedure tells them to poke and squeeze.

    Seriously. I'd rather clean toilets or pick up litter in the street. Work 10 hours picking fruit or veg. There are plenty of jobs out there; You don't need to pick one which involves molesting people.

    TSA agents acquiescence to these demands is a clear indication of their complicity. If I were asked, or policy demanded, that I partially undress children or ask elderly women to remove their incontinence garments, I'd be on the phone to a lawyer before I'd handed in my resignation.

    I'm not interested in a 3D phone, for the same reasons i'm not interested in 3D TVs, 3D movies, or 3D games consoles; It's not 3D, it's stereoscopy. Yes, the effect is impressive for 3 or 4 minutes. The headache after 20 is less so.

    Good for you if you don't get headaches from moving stereoscopic imaging, but saying that it's going to be powering 3D phone sales sounds like a bad business strategy.

    Wait a sec... Who the hell else will buy a 3D phone?!

    America is on my No-Fly List, and has been for a good long while.

    I can simulate the air travel experience in my own room by pushing my desk chair all the way up to my desk, putting a couple of boxes in front of my legs, and watching DVDs from 8 years ago on repeat. For that added authentic experience, i'll invite two fat sweaty nerds to sit either side of me and flick peanuts at each other. The icing on the cake really is the 45 year old balding rent-a-cop sexually assaulting me at my bedroom door.

    Seriously. Never going to America again.

    Although it was less time since I was at school, I feel the same way. Maybe it's because I'm younger, but even throughout the day I can catch myself making a conscious decision to not react a certain way, as the reaction to a previous similar encounter was unfavourable. I can't help but think that others simply do not think to react in the way I need to specifically instruct myself to avoid.

    Your Nissan Maxima weighs 1.6tonnes and has a 3.5l engine. The Mini Cooper had a curb weight of under 700kg and used a 850cc to 1270cc engine. But yeah, it's technology going backwards which explains the fuel economy discrepancy.

    If you want better MPG, sell your Maxima and buy a compact.

    That could be cultural. Ethnic minorities may fear persecution, and therefore lie on the form / fail to return it.

    My parents are firmly in the belief that there are many UK cities which are now predominantly non-Caucasian. It doesn't seem to occur to them that many of those folk will be 2nd, 3rd, or further generation British-born and have an accent, mannerisms, and cultural tastes indistinguishable from any Caucasian local.

    Phone the sales department. You'll find that they have a very short waiting time, often instant. Get them to transfer you.

    In the UK, try http://www.saynoto0870.com/ and put in the support number, or company name. Often you can get local call numbers for premium rate lines, or direct office numbers bypassing the switchboard.

    Dolphin HD is the way to go. Used it on both a Desire and Desire HD, very rarely have rendering issues, not slow at all (excluding Flash-heavy sites, but that's Flash for you). Gestures are useful once you're used to them, and customisable.
