    Windows 7 is a huge step forward from Vista.

    How's that? Windows 7 is basically a relabeled Vista.

    You're joking right? Vista was a complete botch. Win 7 has much better performance in just about every area. Gone are the looping shutdowns that seemed pretty damn frequent in Vista. Gone is the 3 minute startup. Win 7 has a kernel roughly 150x smaller than Vista, and it show's in literally every aspect of the OS. If you think 7 is a relabeled Vista, you clearly haven't used it much, if at all.

    OS X had this 2 years ago. I can't think of any non-security/utility Linux distros that come with one pre-installed, but this is a pretty common sense move forward. To be frank, I'm surprised that MS waited until now. Granted the whole anti-trust restrictions were still active, but I can't imagine the DOJ wouldn't see a common sense ruling in this one as long as MS didn't restrict 3rd party AV effectiveness. IMHO if Windows can have a built-in firewall, why couldn't it have a built-in AV detection system.

    Just don't get one OK Cupid. If you don't like it, choose match.com or eharmony.com. If you have a hobby or two offline, it might even be possible to meet someone you like through that! There are always exceptions to the rule, but it shouldn't be too hard to find someone to date if you go out in the world with reasonable expectations.

    Kind of but not really. Congress created it and retains some measure of oversight. They and the President also confirm/appoint members to the governing board and decide their salary to a certain extent. That said, the reserve board can pretty much do whatever the hell it wants.

    Because there is absolutely now way that an organization of web developers will have a higher proportion of linux users. Please. Wikimedia said 2% of their traffic was linux users, and I think that's a much more fair sample to draw from. Either way I'm happy that it's getting traction in the desktop world.     If you can power an airplane with human-muscle you may be on your way to find out how the hell bees can fly (they should not be able to fly if the current laws of psychics were correct), but on a more 'profit'-base. He at the very least found a way to reduce air-drag and that knowledge might save a couple thousand of gallon jet-fuel per trip in commercial airlines. I'm am sure I am missing a lot of other things that is to be gained from this.

    Bees would violate the laws of aerodynamics for fixed wing airplanes. Fortunately for them they operate more like a helicopter and get more sufficient lift by beating their wings. Do people still seriously believe this?

    Well beyond the fact you need to tighten the comps down, there are very legitimate reasons to have web access at work. In fact a new Australian study thinks it actually raises productivity.

    Gave them do a couple of tasks 1) Give them a website to go to pull data from (could be anything you can put in a spreadsheet - weather, money, but something fairly simple should do) 2) Have them open excel and plot averages, totals, means, etc... (you can choose what is relevant) and make a chart of the data 3) Have them open word doc and insert the chart/data table into the word document and describe whatever data is there 4) Have them make a crappy 1 slide powerpoint slide to demonstrate it (still including the graph 5) have them save the file to a network drive after they map to it. 6) Lastly have them use the search function of whatever OS you're using to find said document after everything has been closed nothing too difficult, and these are relatively routine tasks that most office workers do on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
