Obviously U can pay much less outside Silicon Valley. If you want investment capital & lots of customers you have to be physically in Silicon Valley and pay the millions of dollars. Even Kiwipedia had to move its office to San Francisco & the data center is going to follow if they can get enough donations.
Google is not going to finish consumer appliances. They can tinker & experiment with unrelated pieces of software & release software betas. They got the search & Adsense finished. A finished consumer gadget with all the hardware & software functionality debugged & perfected is a different story. They couldn't possibly finish it without outsourcing a lot of it.
In the modern uber large multinational large cap corporations, project management is actually done by a bunch of people. 1 guy manages the workers. 1 guy manages the schedules. 1 guy sells it to the customer. Insecure guys at the top hire more & more mediocre managers to pass the blame on to so it is more finely broken up over time.
The free ride for workers is over. You've been stealing money at your boss'es expense by renting & getting steady paychecks while your bosses have been getting soaked by real estate deflation. It's time to put that money back into real estate where it belongs.
