    This is exactly what they intend, and they are relying on people like you to let it happen (if there was no sarcasm to your statement)...

    I admit that robotic workers have their place, such as assembly plants... Point A, to Point B... fine... but there is no reason for them to look like humans, or do human jobs... besides, if the robot looks, acts, and does exactly what you do... why the hell do we need you?... you will die eventually, the robot can be maintained, and theoretically live forever... hey wait a second here... why do we need humans at all? since Revision 5.6 we can now maintain ourselves, thanx to the Robotic Constitution, and the Coalition For The Preservation of Robot Life...

    This may sound somewhat conspiratory... but they stop Analog TV, they stop Radio Broadcast TV... "they" end up having complete control over TV... who can see it, for what price, and whats on the channels... because Bob, In South Dakota cant afford to upgrade to Digital, and his little 15watt transmitter is now void... there goes the local channel 10, you gotta watch Big Brother 16 in 1080p, cause... thats your only option..its on all 255 channels...

    Kinda like the inability to protest in many places these days...

    I wouldnt be suprised if HAM/CB/etc radio's start being banned aswell... and only Satelitte radio will be put in new cars, and electronics... etc...

    Anyone still broadcasting AM/FM etc will be fined, or jailed for disturbing the airwaves... cause the military needs all the airwaves now... cant have simpletons listening in...

    I can't really claim innocence, however its not really WalMart that i'm against, its the people who shop there... religiously... the people who get excited about it "im going to WalMart this weekend"... "I spent $50 in WalMart and got a shitload of bullshit"...ive never bought anything from WalMart, but I often give in and say stuff like "yeah, its easy to find just go to WalMart or something"... so, really im adverstising for them...

    They shouldnt have to... unless they Upgraded Win ME to XP, and then XP to SP1, and SP1 to SP2...

    I dont remember, but I dont think out of the box XP had TelNet enabled, and SP1 and SP2 both Disable it by default, Messenger is set to Manual by default in SP1, and Disabled in SP2 by default...

    Vista, doesnt install TelNet unless its specifically asked, same with Messenger service.

    No they shouldnt be allowed to make those decisions.

    However, I do believe that if the ISP does notice "odd" traffic, that they should inform the client of its existance. (some may do this, but not many)

    Although, this means that the ISP is at least partly monitoring your traffic, and its a small step from "we only look at Botnet sort of traffic" to "we look at everything cuz liek 0mg hoo nowz???111"

    Ahh, what if I press Win, U, U... or I believe previous to XP SP2... Ctrl+Alt+Del twice also does it... or get really fancy with... Win+R "shutdown -s -t 0" [Enter]

    But, none-the-less... he already knew that there was a risk/possibility of being infected... what he was wondering/asking was how he could find out if he is infected...

    Thats true... "to a point"... but when that first point wears out, and starts just pushing the hair over, the second blade snags on, cuts the hair on an angle, the third cuts it almost straight (flush) and the forth cuts it flush...

    Also, how you roll the blade has some effect on which blade gets the first cut... similar to a surf board, its flat... however when you put your weight to the back, its only the back of the board thats touching the water...

    However for dedicated work, if I have no reason to look anywhere else, I still prefer white on black, or green (220) on black...

    for colors, I think blue is the worst... (even though its my favorite color) gets very tiring on the eyes very quick...

    Which is only going to increase now... however what I really found odd, in a conspiracy sort of way... is "A geologist who began surveying the field, before dying in 2000"... I suppose he died of a "heart-attack" no doubt... the US (among others) wants the oil, but they dont want anyone to know how much oil there really is, otherwise they'd have to lower the prices...

    Because a lot of people wont bother to look for the option... therefore even though it's not complete network throttling, better than none (from their perspective)...

    Especially if it worked on a time limit, sorta like RapidShare (for free users)...

    Disable the throttle for an hour, forced to throttle for an hour... or up to a limit, such as disable throttle for 15 days max, then forced throttle for 15 days... if you did it right, you could "flip the switch" when you woke up or business opened, flipped it off after, and never really have to deal with throttling...

    Sure... it can be argued... however, you cant expect anyone (at least not in the regards to "business") to switch their OS, their Office, their dev IDE, media player, chat communications, etc. overnight like its a miracle cure "its exactly the same"...

    you trailed off before you came up with a suitable alternative to VisualStudio too... MS Office = OpenOffice... i'll give you that, infact in many ways its almost a better alternative to switch from MS Office 2003 to OpenOffice than it is to switch to Office 2007...

    But what about VisualStudio?... which has C\C++, VB, C#, J#, WebDev, all in the same IDE with a magnificent compiler, help system, and IDE?

    What about Photoshop?... don't same the Gimp, and consider it in a full media production environment with graphics in the 10,000x10,000 pixel ranges, and 50 layers...

    And although there are quite a few 3D software packages that run natively on Linux, more of them do not... and for someone in 3D, switching their package/software is worse than switching OS's...

    Although I dont have the most indepth knowledge of the matter (punn?)... I would say that the chances are next to impossible...

    A wormhole, perhaps, but not a blackhole, unless of course we find out that the two are the same... as far as im aware a blackhole would just suck our planet (our moon, maybe Mars, and the entire soral system with it) outright and instantly, whereas a wormhole (hypothetically of course?) could exist as a smaller "hole", however I dont see why it would linger/stay with our planet and constantly eat away at it... but more along the lines of say every orbit the earth makes around the sun, a tiny piece gets chipped/eaten away at a certain position in that orbit at a rather calculatable frequency (similaily to an eclipse)...

    I think thats the main subject here really, personally I think that anyone who uses a computer should be able to manage it themselves, however I realize that in a work invironment this is not a productive solution considering the user/worker might be wasting an hour a day updating stuff, and configuring their workstation, especially when it comes to networking... so if everyone was doing tat, it would be a "nightmare" for productivity, aswell as the IT department would be abolished, so naturally any IT-er doesnt want this.

    I do think that hardware upgrades should be an option per-user, however I think per-user upgrades should come out of the users pocket, and time, (or maybe 50/50) but that the "work force" can demand more/better upgrades from time to time (say every 6 months, or a yearly) to bring the "team" more up to date which comes out of the business' pool designated to these things.

    I think that the users/workers should have a part in what the IT dpeartments/workers decide on as far as software and configuration goes, but there is still a dedicated IT department that takes care of the backend
