I heard Warner Robins AFB in Georgia recently had a suicide and 3 homicides (from some crazy love triangle). So yeah, I wouldn't feel any safer there no matter what the circumstances were.
I said to mount the home directory, not pull the entire distro off.
A simple hack could be made using Knoppix, they have storage of/home on a usb thumbdrive, why not throw in your Gmail info on bootup (of the linux distro, not your damn pc) and enter your info and have your/home directory mounted with all your settings then continue to run off the CD based distro.
Imagine a bootable linux distro, upon boot asking for your Gmail login info then automatically mounting it as your home directory. Instant linux box wherever you go and have a internet connection.
The gent who said FilePro is correct... a great DB which a company I previously worked for ran. Built the whole company from the ground up on it in the 80's on a old radioshack xenix box. Now runs on a decent a SCO Unix box flawlessly with about 6 secretaries remotely logged in doing their work, processing orders, etc. Its great
Sure gmail is considered webmail, but its definitely one of the first webapps I've that seen. When i'm checking my gmail I don't feel like i'm using webpage, I feel like i'm using a very well crafted application.
Who wants to bother modding a PS2 anyway, it's like 29 wires on tiny solder points!
Pick up a xbox, 007, memory card and download the correct software and you can have your xbox modded to be a linux box, amazing media player, emulate any previous console, or pretty much mod it to be anything you want it to be in an instant!
That vending machine that cut potatos and fried them in the machine and dispensed them on the fly. Fresh hot fries on demand. What ever happend to that?
Was ready to change the channel today at 5 to avoid the horrible robot wars, was suprised to see that Filter was on, a former G4 show. No complaints show far, work out the techtv crap and bring in decent G4 shows. If they keep the right people this might not work out too bad.
Old new for those who watch techtv, was on tech live a few days ago I believe, pretty interesting interview footage as well as seeing the guy covered in advertisements.
I'm sure it will repeat this weekend if you want to see the video.
Morrisville State College, where I attend was shut down as well. We're entirely wireless (old 802.11 absolute crap, 1.5mb connection) as well as we have no land lines, every student is issued a Nextel cell phone. When we moved in no dorms had internet, they were shut down for 3 days and numerous people had accounts shutdown until they cleaned up. Ah well, over with...
I've always wanted to take my GPS on a plane and check out to see if the pilot is speaking the truth when announcing the altitude, plus checking speed would be cool. Anyone the rules about a GPS on a plane?
Please no. I use BeAim and its the greatest AIM clone ever. If they shut out clones I will be very pissed. mostly because theres no java in BeOS and this is my only way of getting on AIM. Grrrr. Please dont do it aol! If they do, they should just release clients for alllll OS's. Highly doubtful though...
Beos forever!
The robot dog vs. cheesy robot got credit on/. but not the The Osborne 1 VS. The Apple iBook fight? Oh well, hopefully people will see that one after the dog, its more interesting.
I did a paper on this for my introductory networking class LAST YEAR and the topic had been a subject in the class for a few semesters before mine.

GmailFS is still a much cooler hack.
