Is thier any way we can cluster this sort of thing? Have no central database, thusly keeping problems like this from happening?
I realy don't know much about this, but it's worth a shot of asking.

Anime Moves To DVD

· Score: 1
Entertainment center? Hehe, that's my computer. Hmm, actualy I do have a TV, an old 9" apple monitor. Being able to watch Stuff on my 15" Mac monitor would be much better of an option.
Oh, and about the snuggleing up in an office chair. That's something I realy don't have to worry about for a while yet (not so good with the girls).
I guess this means I need to go out, and buy a DVD drive for my Macintosh so I can get new anime. Hmm, oh well it could be worse. I just wish the standards for DVD had been settled first. With VHS, I can stick it in any compatable player, and go. Not the same with DVD. I bought 'The Matrix' and tried to play it in my parents DVD player. No dice, it would just load for about 30 min, then eject the disc. Maby I'll get to watch it after I order my new drive? Who knows.
The other concern I have, has to do with the japanese language. I pray that they don't force us to watch dubed material. But, with region codes, and whatnot. This may be the way they go. What a sad state this world is in when a man can't watch a anime in it's origional japanese language.
Yesterday I went to a music store, and found the eposodes of 'lain' that where missing from my collection. So, posthaste I made it to the checkout and paid.
That didn't last long. I was looking one of them over as I left, and noticed that it was *DUBED*. Hmm, that's no good. This caused me to walk right back up to the counter, and demand my money back. I don't belive in dubs, it's just not right.
This was a major blow, after waiting, and wanting a very long time to find them, and to find them perverted in such a way.
When this becomes availble for human use, I want it. Who cares about having a body? I just want to be put into a big computer. Of course it would be mounted in a hummer type vechicle so I could move about. Wireless internet. The whole shabang.
Agreed, this causes me much grief. I bought a DVD player a couple months back, and It's almost useless to me.
When I sit in the livingroom, I can watch DVDs just fine, but with my TV in the office, that is hooked up to the back of the VCR via RCA, I can't watch DVDs. This sucks.
I have the same feelings. But it goes deeper. Gnome, KDE, junk that I don't need. Hell, I rarely even touch X. I also don't use rpms. I belive that the whole idea behind RPM is the dumbing down of linux. I don't see the point of installing any software that I don't know what's going to do. Much prefer to read through the source to make shure it's not going to fry my box or something else wierd. My current box sadly enough was origonaly redhat 5.0, but as I have updated most of the software on here I can't even use RPMS anymore;) Not that it bothers me much. Hmm, I hope nobody moderates me down for this rant...Oh, and if you want to make X look like a mac, do it the right way. Use mlvwm, great window manager (plus it uses little ram).
Flying J offers this service, works very nicely. About 200$ a month though. You park your rig by a little yellow box on the ground and plug in. Most flying J's have these now. Only problems with this. 1) 200$ a month is expensive 2) Don't park your car by the rigs, (the only place the ports are) You will get bad reactions from the drivers. Other than that it works well. Thouh I ususaly just use my palmpilot+modem in the resturants to check e-mail and so on. Using a calling card to pay for the call to my home ISP. Works very well but the surcharges on the phones will eat a phone card realy fast if you only use it for like 2 min at a time.
I use lynx (it's the only web browser I like), and slashdot polls seem to work fine for me. I may not be able to see all the pretty graphs, and dodads, but I get the information all right.
Course, this all comes from a guy who still thinks that a text mode is much more efficent. It lets you use your ram for something inportant like chrunching numbers, and other inportant things...not displaying pretty pictures (not that pretty pictures are bad, just pretty pointless)(and in case your curious, I use emacs, not vi'le')
That is terrible, totaly unusable in lynx. I don't know why anybody would do such an evil thing, it locks your viewers into a certen platform, thusly blocking out everybody else. Realy doesn't make any sence, unless of course if some company gives you a nice chunk of money to do it...even then, it's realy still evil (bribes are not well liked)
The logitech Trackman marble is great, I got one in early spring, and deffinitly recomend it to anybody (I even turned my roomate to get one).
It's optikal, so, this improves tracking (though the tracking is kina off at realy high speeds (see how fast you can spin the ball!)). Movement is nice an smooth, nice clean shape that fits the hand great.
Just a nice pice of equipment (I like it bettern than a touchpad)
I had a similar experence a couple years ago, when I went to EPCOT. Went down wearing a big black trenchcoat. I had the liner taken out, so it wasn't hot (otherwise, I wouldn't had been wearing it in FL), but nonetheless, They did let me in, but the unmarks kept looking at me, I assume trying to figure out if I had a gun or not. Note of intrest, this was before the whole colimbine thing. At one point, I was chatting with one of the guys who happend to have a display...he was having some problems with his hardware. Since his display was not working, one of the 'survalence' guys came by to see what was wrong. I stood around and listend to the conversation, since he had so rudely interupted us. After a bit, the security guy asked what I was doing here, and suggested 'more than suggested actualy' that I move along. As I was a couple steps away, he noted in an odd voice, that 'it must be real hot in that coat...'. I turned around, and told him 'no, not realy', and he gave me a look like who the hell are you.
Well, in closing, I don't plan on going back there for quite a while, they where rather rude, and it realy wasn't worth it, shure it was kina cool, but...
Oh, also something entertaining, at one of the displays, they had lots of computers that happend to be connected to the internet. I found it to be an easy way to get 'exposure' for my webpage! Not to mention a quick way to check my email...got kicked out of the building for that. Something about a security issue...
I would just like to say, that after being on line since early 95, that the whole multiplul personality things is quite real. It happens to the best of us, even without our knowlage.
After have been online for that long, I have devoloped somewhere around 4 online personalitys, varying in age/sex/tendencys.
But, I don't belive that this is realy a bad thing, They are all me, or I am them. It's to the point that I use them in the Real world also, Note that this can cause a bit of confusion when the personality happens to be the wrong sex for the body. But, it works out quite well. They all have thier good points, and are well worth keeping around. I've got one to handle 'stressfull' situations, one to be the cudly type, and yet another that keeps life interesting for everybody. Though, I'm shure that somebody would like to put me away for this 'problem', I realy do think it's good. If nothing else, it helps me to deal with being alone for extended periods of time. I can sit down, and have a 4way conversation with myself, and have totaly diffrent views come out. Although, it does confuse some people a good deal when they meet me in RL, and then the next time, I happen to be a totaly diffrent person, but people get usto it. The personalitys change on thier own for the most part, though sometimes, I can coherse one to take control. But, this is rarely needed.
Well, enough about that, I'd also like to say that online relationships do work, but require a person to think with thier logical side first, and thier heard last.
Even if you could copy them, and post them, who would want to, do you realize how much bandwith it would take up to upload an 'entire' movie? The only reason that mp3 piracy is a problem, is the average mp3 is only 5 megs, and what's that, couple min download with a decent modem? But, you get up to a couple hundred megs (actualy more) for a DVD film, yer talking some serious d/l time here. It's just not worth the trouble (unless of course your on a lan (like in a collage), but even then, the only other people who would have easy access are few)
After working with several distros, I agree fully with you, In my opinion, the whole.rpm thing takes away a *LOT* from the linux experence. Decide to upgrade something? Just get the RPM! It's compiled by somebody you don't know, and with compile time options that you may not even want (and some you do not included). Saddly enough, I am currently on a RH5 machine, but I have kept it upgraded for the most part manualy, only use rpms when I can't find any other way to get the job done, and spend lots of time tweaking the source. With RPMs, you just can't do that. It's the dumbing down of the linux world.
Very cool, after I get some cash together, I'm going to definitly get this. Will make idle time much less boring (after you have hummed all the songs you know, what else is thier to do?) - Wakko!
It's not secure...I only know of one OS that's fully secure (remotely). MacOS, hehe. Try to root my box :)
I'd just like to note for the record that I'm both an anime freak, and a guy with coloured computer.
We are watching you!
Here's a question for you. What does linux look like? It's not gnome, it's not KDE. It's not even X. It's not bash, or tcsh.
It's whatever the user wants it to be.

And, as a note of intrest, at disney, a scanner can be lots of fun
