I agree... why go to THAT store? That store did not make them and it is not like they are burning bootlegs and selling them, why did they choose that store out of all the others that were most likely selling it? It seems odd to me something else must be going on with this story that the store or newspaper doesn't know or the DHS won't share.

I am not sure about his personal ties but is he tied to anyone at Universal or another rival company.

I am a bit biased since I work for a Viacom Company but even before I did (which was on this summer) I could still tell that the Super Bowl incident was a crock and stupid, especially the extent of the fines (I guess they had to fine someone, but they went WAY too far).

Uh, I work for MTV Networks and that is not true. Their campaign along with other ones (like http://headcount.org/, http://www.rockthevote.com/home.php/, and many others are doing a good job of sending the message that young people's votes count and they do have a voice. I think its great.

And MTV is not biased in their coverage and at all. I think you are just making broad comments about the sterotypical people who are viewers of MTV.

Just because people don't dive into the records of the canidates doesn't mean they don't have the right to vote. My dad does not do that - he votes purely for the party. Hell the benefit of being in this country is that we have the right to vote for whoever we want for whatever reason. I can vote for Bush becuase I love Texas or I can vote for Kerry because I love Ketchup.

The point should be that people are actual voting it doesn't matter who they vote for.

But then again maybe my opinion doesn't count on this issue either becuase I must be a "already-mindless american youth" becuase I sometimes watch any of MTV's networks or worse I work for their IS&T department.

true, I know that becuase I attend at ~ 20 or more concerts a year and many sporting events (esp Yankee playoff games). But bar codes on tickets is not the issue, the issue is that the barcodes will be on mobile phones, so there is no hard copy of the ticket, no paper involved...

and jdray what artists do you know that behave like that? I have never heard of that before mainly becuase pretty much all the shows I attend are of bands who are in the "Jam scene" and encourage taping of their show...

  22. Re:Yay for progress on Mobile-Ticketing - Delivery On Mobile Phone · · Score: 0

Yes, scalping is illegal, but good old ticket brokers are legal and going strong, so its pretty much the same thing. This proposes more problems. I have tickets to an event, sorry a bar code, and I have to work that night or can't make it, do I have to eat my ticket now? I didn't read the full article, but they should allow you to transger the ticket to another person (by adding there address, name, phone number and price paid) that way you can still get rid of extra tickets if needed but hopefully it will help reduce scalping.

But I would probablly never use this system, just like I will never use ticketfast system of Ticketbastered, I mean Ticketmaster. I enjoy having the actual ticket in my hand and being able to have a hard copy of the ticket (especially ones desgined by the band or team for special events sold through fan clubs, etc). Also I frame my stubs by themselves and with posters of the show they were for. That would be impossible with this system. I don't think its worth the trouble...

Lucas: Ultimately, I'm going to probably move it into television and let other people take it. I'm sort of preserving the feature film part for what has happened and never go there again, but I can go off into various offshoots and things. You know, I've got offshoot novels, I've got offshoot comics. So it's very easy to say, "Well, OK, that's that genre, and I'll find a really talented person to take it and create it." Just like the comic books and the novels are somebody else's way of doing it. I don't mind that. Some of it might turn out to be pretty good. If I get the right people involved, it could be interesting.

  24. what a terrible reason on George Lucas Speaks on Trilogy Changes · · Score: 0

AP: Why did you change your mind and decide to put the original three movies out on DVD now?

Lucas: Just because the market has shifted so dramatically. A lot of people are getting very worried about piracy. That has really eaten dramatically into the sales. It really just came down to, there may not be a market when I wanted to bring it out, which was like, three years from now. So rather than just sit by and watch the whole thing fall apart, better to bring it out early and get it over with.

To make more money... come on George, you know poeople would buy them still if they were another 3 years... he just did this so im 5 year he can sell them again as HD DVD or Blue Ray discs...

and he doesnt want to spend the money (millions, i dont think so) to release the original ones on DVd, why not?
All we want is the original untouched trilogy on a disc instead of tape, so we can move to chapters and stuff, i dont want special features, hell i dont even need an in-depth menu...
