It is illegal so sell, manufacture or transport any drugs in the Netherlands unless you have a licence to do this for medical, instructional or scientific purposes. Shipping pot to the States is not allowed.
So how come we have pot selling coffeeshops?
the government wants to keep an eye on the selling of soft drugs so it has allowed the prosecutors office to set a series of guidelines. If you carry 5 grams or less of pot for personal use you will not be prosecuted. A coffeshop is allowed to have a maximum of 500 grams for trade.
Trying to jam a normal camcorder with IR is useless, most videocamera's are filtered against IR light. If they are not go get a filter in a camera shop
The second scheme probably relies on slightly changing the flicker frequency of the light in the projector. You know the effect from trying to film a computer monitor, bands of different brightness will appear or the image on the monitor wil flicker when seen trough the camera. This is allso not really a problem. They will not be able to put the frequency of this flicker below 50 fps since it will become noticeble to the eye and it could "set off" epileptic people into a spasm. Most film is shot at 24 fps, so simply selecting a low shutter speed wil eliminate the flicker and the remaining brightness jumps can be taken care of with a virtualdub filter. Next DRM scheme please! This one is useless!
It may sound trollish but i wonder why do are people and especially company's not switching over to linux or osX in droves? It instantly fixes so many security problems that it seems like an easy decision. What are the factors, apart from enertia, that keep em hooked?
Prostitution is legal in the Netherlands,
So now a brothel here cannot receive its own spam because the whores might complain about its sleazy content.
A library should make is possible for people to have knowledge of cultural and scientific progress. Thats why i applaud my local library (amsterdam, the netherlands) for allways having the newest pc games! (And the best collection of DVD's you'll find anywhere)
The strange thing is the eerie silence in the european media about this kind of stuff. Or is it just me? I love the americans for their angry websites and wild discussions when stuff like this happens. I have to read about this and on an americam website. Should i as a dutchmen check german websites or learn french or swedish to hear about this ?
March 27, 2002 AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- Amsterdam's Schiphol airport is claiming success in a biometric security system that scans eyes and allows passengers to bypass traditional passport control.
Schiphol is one of several major European airports embracing new technology to win back passenger confidence amid security fears following September 11.
London's Heathrow is holding similar trials while some U.S. airports, including New York's JFK and Washington's Dulles, are also considering the scheme.

I must say that it makes me feel like a second class citizen to stand in line waiting to have my passport checked at schiphol and seeing people in expensive suits zooming trough the biometric check
Wat you are looking for is something like my server. It's called captain video's newbie server and for the name alone it usually attracts beginners. If somebody too "l33t" logs in they are usually politely asked to leave and most of them do. If not, they are voted off.

Don't use your email address, period. Other solutions like filters only address part of the problem, I wrote a little Javascript Turing email blocker , which prevents you using email! No more email means no more spam, spam harvesters use viruses that collect email adresses from the computers of people that know you. People that don't know how to use bcc spread your adress all over the net. So dont give out your email adress at all. Just send lonely test messages to yourself. mmm, a dictionary attack could still find you..... Stop checking your email!!! Problem solved.
It freaks me out a little bit, why should a country that is allready so powerful still invest so heavyly in arms. who needs these arms? what for? There is nobody strong enough to challenge the US and nobody will be in the foreseeable future. As a non american i feel threatened. Am i to be 'liberated' next?
Your eyes can never capture a forground object and the faraway stars in one look. Its your brain that combines these images into a memory. Reality does not exist. Your reality lives in your brain only. That is why we need creative people. They can make images that stick to fuzzy stuff like brain.
One of the early blender users is working in my company Captainvideo(he is co owner)
I have seen him work with blender very often and i am still amazed at the speed of this program.
Not only does it render very fast, but it is allso a very fast modeler.
He has worked on two 35mm films with blender. the hires output was printed to 35 MM film.
One was "The Red stuff" by Leo the boer.
a film about the early years of russian space exploration for which he adapted paintings bij a russian kosmonaut to stunning moving 3d scenes.
Village voice about the red stuff: "The Red Stuff would make a resonant double bill with Space Cowboys."
the other was "god is my copilot" a film about religion on an american aircraft carrier. a pilot looks up into the starry night before launching an attack- stars are done in blender.
He has allso done a lot of television work with blender
