i have done many projects with camera's in extreme situations and have come to like the sony handycams a lot. Mine has been taking abuse for over 4 years now, it looks like sh*t all scratched and beaten but it still works fine.
Perhaps you should take a closer look at why these camera's break down. Dirt? Moisture? vibrations? uneducated users? and try to fix that. Else take a prosumer camcorder like the PD 150 they have an auto mode that works well for people without experience and are build to take a beating.
Perhaps a small semi transperant geodesic dome with a simple camera inside could do the trick. If you could measure color and brightness on each of the trangles and save them as numbers you can probably find some room in the video signal to add this info. You could allso simply add a camera with a fisheye lens pointed upwards. You could even add reflections that way.

I bought the DVD for 60 Euros Then i had to wait for more than two hours as steam was doing stange stuff to my computer and communicating god knows what to some evil corporation before i could play.
I arrive at work today bringing my laptop along and a collegue just downloaded the torrent,he was happily playing the illegal version. Then i started my version to compare and steam started doing whoknows for a freaking half hour before i could play. grrrr, next time i wait for the cracked version of any steam enabled game.
The game is exellent, no complaints there : ) And yes we can play games at work, we own the place.
i should have been more clear, i bought the DVD! That is why i am so impatient, i am used to ripping open the packaging and start playing the game! That is how it should be i think.
