    We do, check out Barbara Blocks's work. I set up an acoustic receiver for them in Monterey and we just got our first hit last week.

    Actually "people at Burning Man us[ing] their talents to actually do something constructive" is how the whole thing works. Where do you think all the art, events, bars, DJs, classes, and other fun stuff comes from? They weren't paid to be there.
    While it is true that there are those that come to mooch off all this creativity and culture, but one of the central tenets is being part of the community and contributing to it.

    I don't think Charlie was talking about organization, for that some software is nice. But it shouldn't be awe-inspiring to be able to drag and drop a file to transfer data.

    Inertial mass(F=m a) and gravitational mass(F=G M m/r^2) are the same so they cancel out of the equation, there is no approximation here. Setting the mass to zero either leads to infinite acceleration or no gravitational force.

    I was taught that friction is not dependent on surface area, just the normal force and the surfaces' friction coefficient. That might all be irrelevant with a lubricating layer of water underneath.

    I'd actually like a flip style smart phone. It could have a larger screen and still fit in your pocket and stay protected. And you get the satisfying bonus of slapping it shut when your done with a call.

    It's very simple chemistry, when you increase the CO2 in water it turns into carbonic acid.

    The difference I see here is that your idea of liberals are afraid of the things that have been statistically and historically most dangerous to society, not just what they think is 'icky' or 'unAmerican'.

  19. Bloom's fuel cells have to run hot, so they don't work that well for on/off applications. They're also ceramic which makes them heavy limiting their use.

    Just because reality is complicated doesn't mean that the math of fluids (mostly Navier-Stokes) wouldn't apply to other fields. It may not be as universal as the wave equation, but being emergent from F=ma and some basic conservation laws I could see how it might correlate with other systems.
