I don't think ATI needs much help right now. Their current lineup is better value than most of Nvidia's, offer similar medium-high end performance (HD4850 and 4870) and they're ahead in process technology as well. They recently released a 40nm GPU and it's pretty damn good (the HD4770). I don't think Nvidia have anything to match it actually.
I've always bought Nvidia cards for the sake of familiarity. I was going to switch over last time I upgraded but there was a sale on the GTX 260. Better luck next time ATI!
They're larger companies so they get fined more. The point of a fine is to be a deterrent, which means it has to scale with the size of the company's earnings. How would it deter them if it was some tiny fixed cost?
I'm really starting to like the E.U. government. The only thing I wonder is how long it will take corporations to buy-off EU politicians the way they already bought-off U.S. politicians (campaign contributions). It's only a matter of time.
See, the EU have thought this out rather nicely... How are they going to bribe them when all their money is already taken in fines? Hah!
I hope it isn't a reboot of the continuity in general. I think it'd be cool if there was a series of movies that were mostly self-contained, so they could try new and interesting things more often. The mirror universe episodes in each series are widely liked for the same reason.
CPUs have thermal failsafes, and many modern ones will run normally even without active cooling if they're not heavily loaded. Some motherboards also have a backup CMOS.
You might have some luck overvolting some components to crazy levels or blanking the hard disc firmware. I can't think of anything really reliable though.
Jaysus! Look at this feckin' eejit thinkin' we all go around talkin' like a bunch of amadáns. Look here biy, you better watch it or you'll get the head bait off ya!
Source isn't really outdated. The original one in HL2 isn't hugely fancy but it's pretty decent even now. The modern version of Source in HL2:Ep2 and L4D is pretty great looking, with dynamic lights and soft shadows, all that fancy stuff.
And as someone else said, the engine is so much better at rendering people than everything else that it makes up for any other shortcomings it may have. Even in Crysis people still have those stupid dough-heads and rubber mouths that don't even lip-sync properly. And Fallout 3 was just comedic in that regard.
And the PS3 and some PSP games. But like all Slashdot summaries about patents, it probably left out some specific to make it sound more stupid than it actually is.
I like Intel's hardware, it's really impressive. But that kind of crap can't go unpunished and it's nice to see a penalty with some teeth, even if it's only potential teeth right now.
There are no laws preventing you from playing a game you bought in a different country. It's purely Valve's doing. I remember when they invalidated a bunch of Orange Box purchases because they were bought cheap in China or something; they were legitimate, but it would threaten Valve's profits. So they removed them from the accounts just like that.
Steam is a good service most of the time. But there are severe shortcomings even if they don't rear their heads often. Know what you're getting into.
Microsoft's 'Wireless Notebook Mouse 5000' is the one I recommend, after getting it on recommendation from others. It only takes a moment to wake up from long periods of inactivity, has a power switch and is just a plain good mouse regardless of wireless considerations.
I was going to get one, but according to reviews it has no middle button. Instead there's a gimmick to switch wheel modes. Instant fail; now how can I open all those porn tabs quickly? Ctrl-click can bite my ass, I've only got one hand free!
Instead I got a MS Wireless 5000 BT mouse and I have to say it's pretty great. No lag, well weighted, comfortable and with good tracking and resolution. Four buttons too. It's easily good enough to play fast-paced FPS games with. I'm using it with my NC10 netbook right now.
Are you shitting me? Expecting high framerates at 1920x1200 with 8xAF is pretty retarded, and so is singling out Crysis like it's old and easy to run. How many games are more intensive? Even its sequel has lower system requirements.
For a 110 dollar card to get playable framerates in Crysis with those settings is nothing short of amazing. Possibly the best price/performance ratio I've ever seen, and here you are moaning about it. Jeez.
Are they? A persistent rumour, but nobody ever bothers to substantiate the point with any evidence.
Retail PC sales are dropping in favour of digital services, which don't seem to release their sales figures. Any sources?

Intel also had that deal with Skype.
I wonder what else they've been up to?

Divinity is borne of ignorance?
This leads us to an important piece of information: nobody can understand a god. Therefore... All gods are emo.
Yes, there are various levvies and increased VAT as well. We're boned.

Tourists...
If you wanted fair you shouldn't have joined a society.
You don't join, it joins you.
And why use so many words when you can use tags? Your post in summary:

I have to admit, that's the most hilarious insult I've heard all month. Bravo sir.

Ha, that was so easy! What a di

It isn't? I wish I could kick that much ass by accident...

That's right... But the Macbook also has another more relevant feature: ten times the amount of unused space on the sides.

Don't get me started on the lack of USB ports on laptops. It surprises me that the MacBook Pro only has two USB ports.
Really? Even my netbook has three of them.

$85 is close enough.
You can get one for 80 easily enough if you watch out for special offers.
