At least Android tells me what an application tries to do, so I decide not to install it.
And this is why I bought Permissions Pro. It enables me to lock permissions for programs that read "phone state" ect. And interestingly my battery consumption is much better for it, 1 day 20 hours with 48% remaining on my Galaxy S2.
In Australia we call it what it really is - a handbrake. Does that mean the one on the floor should be called a "foot brake"? Hummm... I seem to recall my father calling it that back in the 1970s. Agh now I feel old.
No chance of him getting IE9 though as he is stuck on XP but I have to agree with you, IE9 is an improvement. However so are most of the other web browsers!
BTW, has anyone even seen the left wing of politics in australia recently? Is there still a left wing? it all feels pretty right with a varying amount of authoritarian and nannying.
Living in Queensland and watching the US politics in action reminds me that we still have some semblance of sanity here. However the difference between left and right here has diminished to the degree where even at the last elections I voted Green for the very first time in my life (48) and it looks like I will again.
Meanwhile up here in the tropics we used concern ourselves more with the jelly fish and crocs because swimming is a popular pastime. But lately the crocs are less of a concern as we just take our dogs swimming with us. If a dog goes missing we concern ourselves greatly!
I wasn't stupid; neither are your kids (presumably)
Ah no they are not, sometimes I think they are a little too cocky though:P
Perhaps a little back on topic, I used to work in sales for a computer shop, selling software as well as hardware.
I brought my boys up on your run of the mill "children's" PC games and really they are a hit and miss affair.
One notable hit that I'll always recall was a game staring Elmo. I believe that game was the success it was only due to the fact my eldest liked Elmo and had a few stuffed Elmo toys.
Perhaps one key then is to provide software on their computers that they can relate to in real life, like my boy did with Elmo.
Just a thought.
Don't ask me to relate that to proxy servers though:D
The point? Don't be so sure that they can't bypass your proxy. They have tits & gore for motivation, after all.
So very very true. Nothing like a little "hot blooded" motivation eh? LOL
If they do manage to bypass it I think perhaps I might be more proud of that achievement than I would be upset.:D
Attempts to get to "filtered" sites are logged but I don't check them with any frequency, I guess I rely on the complaints of being unable to get to sites as my guide to its effectiveness.
After all I'm not a complete bastard:P
Hahahahah I have two boys who have to endure theirs dads liking of using a laptop loaded with Linux acting as the proxy, gateway, firewall.
I use Dans Guardian as a content filter and they HATE it LOL
I love the filter though and have been using it for many years. It has a wonderful where I can adjust the level of filtering based on the average age of those going through the filter. Naturally you can add certain IPs to not go though it.
Thankfully they have found no way to bypass it YET:D
I play Modern Warfare only for its multi player function. In fact I have most of the PC versions of COD and have never completed the single player side on any of them.
The games I do play single play on are mostly C&C / Diablo type games.
I buy FPS games based completely on the online multi player side and isometric type games for the single player side.
Many people do play multi player in C&C and Diablo type games and of course co-op in games like Serious Sam and the like. So to reduce the time and effort spent on multi player would be a bad thing in my opinion.
However developers should look carefully at their games to see if multi player is a valuable addition to the game or not.
Sim City is a game that works well without multi player for me but I have friends who say they would love a multi player function for it.
...and there goes another previously good keyboard... Damn it!
Can someone please invent a good keyboard that can withstand a laugh induce spill? Just don't call it iKey!
I have had a very easy time also.
One on a fairly new PC (Intel Dual Core, nVidia graphics card and 2GB of RAM) and then a Toshiba Tecra A7 laptop (Intel Dual core, ATI graphics card, and 2GB of RAM).
My only gripe was the failure that still occurs in the Toshiba laptop with the Bluetooth card not functioning. I was able to get it to work with 9.04 but the same trick is not working now.
Everything else is functioning well.
Personally I hope they spend more time on the main iTunes program itself. Mine always freezes if I allow the program to sync as soon as the iPhone is connected! Disabling that function is the only way I have found allows me to connect the iPhone without having iTunes stall.
Is this the second update to version 9 of iTunes already? It seems just last week the 9.01 (?) was released!
OMG ! It doesn't support Opera !
Oh well, so sad... care factor "0"
I wonder if Microsoft are counting the number of hits to that "This Web browser or operating system may not be compatible with Silverlight." web page?
You can bet they ARE counting the number of successful instals so the can boast about it someday!
Hey! I read RTFA
yer, yer I know...
I realise that it refers to a "page" and not the keys on the keyboard.
However!
Anyone seen a patent on the "Any Key" yet ?:P
I read yesterday that Google were moving to ban Apple product in USA
Is it wrong I read that with the Martin voice?
Is there any other way to read it?
Of course not. Marvin forgot to patent the voice. Poor Marvin!

I have no ducks in my hifi. Am I doing it wrong?
Damn pity they posed "Anonymous Coward"
