The reason MD never took off was because it is a terrible format. Even hi-fi magazines had listening tests that showed cassettes with Dolby S were better than Sony's ATRAC system.
I agree, government is a business. The problem is that the government can also tax people for services that they don't use. The gov can undercut private businesses' prices by reducing their sticker price, but taxing the public to recoop losses. That is unfair practices.
...please RTFA. This does not affect FREE city-provided WiFi. This only affects PAID city-provided WiFi.
I happen to agree with this move. The government should not be in the business of providing non-essential services. Government-run businesses do not have to make a profit, and actually don't even have to break even. Private companies on the other hand, have to make a profit to survive. It would be unfair competition.
-AOL buys Netscape (possibly to cash-in on the lawsuit against Microsoft) -AOL buys Nullsoft (maybe AOL wants their own branded media player) -AOL signs contract with Microsoft to use IE browser (instead of using Netscape's browser that they paid 4.2 billion for) -AOL lays off Netscape crew, but decides to fund Mozilla -AOL is shutting down Nullsoft -AOL is getting out of the broadband ISP business.
Has AOL done anything good in the last few years? What the hell was Time Warner thinking?
...with all of the conspiracy theories, about how the country will self-destruct, the world as we know it will end...
Aren't people tired of predicting the end of the world? Call me crazy, but I think we'll still be around 4 years from now with another successful election taking place.
Sorry, but that definition isn't correct. Ethernet has nothing to do with layer 1 (as it can run on any type of cable) and it has absolutely nothing to do with the transport layer (layer 4).
Ethernet is strictly a layer 2 protocol. It is a first come, first served protocol. Also known as CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access / Collision Detection)

Actually its limited by the distance from the CO (central office). They can extend the range by placing extra DSLAMs around the town. But I'm getting too picky...
Private businesses have to make a profit. The government doesn't. That's unfair competition. So what happens when the government needs more money for the project? They raise taxes. Do you and I want higher taxes? No. Is high speed internet access a necessity? No.
When the government starts taking business away from private companies then we don't have a capitalist country anymore.
It's not your right to break the law. People have to held responsible for their actions (which seems to NOT be the trend in the US). In other countries you would have your hand chopped off for stealing. Does that fit the crime?

Um...they're basically the same resolution. 480 compared to 525 (and technically you don't get the full 525). They should probably take a look at that.
at how many of you "geeks" use other people's webmail systems. Seems to me that if Linux is so great (and it is) that you would setup your own mail server.
How many people here slam M$ and the turn around and check their Hotmail accounts?
That's what you get for using a free (crappy) service.
My ISP doesn't even have size restrictions on mail folders.
No one is forcing us to buy these products. You have the options that the manufacturer gave you. Don't like it? Don't buy it.
It really is that simple. Especially since all products list system requirements and recommendations on the box.

Please tell me that you're not that retarded. The discussion is about the IMAGE search, not the web search.

Isn't it stange that the FCC says that they can't regulate satelite TV, but then they turn around and prosecute people who hack the signal?
Either you can regulate satelite transmissions or you can't. Make up your mind!

"CCNA shouldn't take a semester"
In Cisco's NetAcads the CCNA program is 4 semesters.

Ethernet cable? What is that?
Ethernet is a layer 2 protocol while cable is layer 1. There's no such thing as an ethernet cable.

Paranoid, are we?
We already give more than ALL OTHER COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD COMBINED!

35-90GB of storage per cartridge. 8 times faster than tape.
We're installing these at work for most of the backups.

Anyone want to give me one?
Seriously.

Their early stuff is great to code/troubleshoot to.

For crying out loud! Even /.ers are too stupid to realize that ISDN is baseband, not broadband.
ISDN uses digital signaling, therefore it is baseband. Broadband uses (multiple streams of) analog signaling.
Get it straight!

How can Delta afford this? Do they think the American taxpayers will allow another bailout of the airline industry?
They need to be tightening their belts and spend their money carefully instead of shoving $25 Million into something that might not work out.
