    I'm pretty sure everyone going bananas for one of two choices for any given office perpetuates the two-party system.

    Don't look for it to go anywhere anytime soon. They've perfected the idea of distracting the populace with these sorts of sideshows while they drain the country dry.

    What sort of improvements should be made to handle an extreme peak not likely to happen again? I think it worked out pretty damn well, being that I was two miles from the ceremonies and suffered no outages at all.

    Does it really matter how it feels? I'm offended knowing that bits are being wasted - and Microsoft probably doesn't even recycle them. When the global bit shortage caused by this profligate waste means no one can do any more computing, will you still be making excuses?

    The basic problem is that the country is too big. 300+ million people will never even come close to agreement on anything, so logically the expansion of power will continue with the expansion of population.

    What really makes me laugh is that Europe, with the benefit of history showing them this problem in excruciating detail, willingly is heading down the same path. Tasty pick, boneheads.

    In fact, you can't even say that Javascript is an Object Oriented, LISP-like functional language on Slashdot (of all places) without ten or twelve people trying to tell you you're wrong.

    That's because Slashdot is full of bigots who believe their own opinion is the one true way. With that mindset, they see no point in learning, and I see no point in giving their opinion any weight.

    I'd really like a more complex, personalized moderation system where I could mark off people I've discovered as being closed to new ideas so I could know right away to give their posts less weight. Unfortunately using the current moderation system for that purpose is something of an abuse.

    Face it, not having MMS is a pretty big loss for the iPhone.

    I don't have to face it, actually. For all the phones I've owned that had MMS as a feature, I've used it exactly zero times. I personally don't care about it at all, and that's the only yardstick I'm obligated to use.

    While 60 isn't old, it seems like a lot of people his age who "lived too hard" are now suffering the consequences through odd early/uneven aging, hormonal issues, cancer, auto-immune diseases, and other odd things we've not seen before.

    As a minor counterpoint, we also couldn't detect these things reliably until relatively recently, so it's hard to say if these "odd things" are something new, or simply something we're just figuring out.

    Don't bother bringing truth or reason to Slashdot. There's a large contingent of users on this site who seem to have the same amount of religious fervor as your average born-again evangelical, just for a different set of causes.
