Not sure what your issue is, as I frequently I connect my iphone to Windows machines with out iTunes installed. Windows always treats it as a mass storage device and I can then use Windows Explorer to get to the files.
The Be OS folks ended up working for PalmSource when Palm did the PalmOne / PalmSource split. PalmSource then tried to make OS 6, and then Access bought Palmsource. I don't know what happened to the patents for Be, but the people at least went down the PalmSource path....
Lack enforcemnt of the law does not mean freedom. Lack of enforcement of the law leads to things like milk formula being produced with harmful chemicals or shoddy schools being built that collapse in a earthquake.
The cable companies want the caps so they can discourage people from getting viewable content elsewhere. They don't want you downloading tv / movies from Netflix or Itunes or Amazon or anywhere else. They want you to watch shows through their set top box. Cables companies sell local and regional ads for shows that they carry. They are using the data bandwidth issue as a false argument to slow the adoption of alternate content distribution methods than their own.
that is what infant care costs....and why many families have two people working. After child care costs are factored in, it turns out one spouse is making maybe 1 - 3 dollars and hour.
The removal of remote desktop from the Home Premium version was the deal killer for me and Vista. I remote into my XP desktop machine ALL the time using my EEE pc....I use my EEE pc with XP for web surfing and such, but remote desktop into my desktop machine to run more demanding applications.
I have two Tivos, one with life time service, one with out.
I don't want to pay Tivo the monthly fee to use the non life time service Tivo, it would be nice to be able to load something else on to it and put it to use.
No. There shouldn't be a way to pull apps from phones remotely.
What's next? Pulling mp3 files that haven't been downloaded and purchased from iTunes? Deleting of files that contain keywords that the government finds subversive?
True, the last two examples are hyperbole, but think about what control of your data that you are ceding to a corporation.
The GUI on my Series2 Tivo is really slow when doing anything but navigating the standard menus and browsing shared mp3 files on my LAN. All of the nifty new features: Picasa Web Albums, Swivel Search, etc...all are frustrating experiences with the PLEASE WAIT clock on the screen. I think the processor in the older series2 Tivos aren't up to the task of these fancy new features.
And spelling out book titles with a TV remote? (Arrow to letter > Select Letter > Arrow to next letter > Select Next Letter).
No thanks!

Not true. Infinite number of programmers and an infinite amount of time just means an infinite number of bugs.

Let me know when they make one that uses beer as a liquid. And dispenses it too. Then I will be impressed.

After all of the complacency and apathy regarding erosion of civil liberties and privacy in the United States, we deserve this.
