I dont remember having 2 hours of Homework a night in the Second Grade. Yet it seems that Kids are getting MORE and MORE homework. They have no time for anything else nowadays.
When I visit Singapore, Every car has a "Meter" in it with a Card. This card is a pre-paid card and each time if you are in a parking garage or so, its auto deduction. NO time lost.
What school system are you referring too? The ones I deal with in Virginia have SOL's that they are required to pass before they are promoted. Also have IEP for those "idiots" you speak of to improve them.
The real issue is age and maturity. Classrooms are full of people of differing maturity levels and ages. It is one of the worst problems is that during the highest growth for children that we group them into year age groups. My son is born Dec 30th which means that most of the time the people he plays sports with are at LEAST a half year older or more and so he is behind in the maturity and social levels of the system. What do parents do? They hold the child back a year and place them in kindegarden late. What this causes is the reverse affect, now their child is almost a year older than the others in the class and maturity levels.
Up until a child is late teens, Age and Maturity play a huge factor in learning. Having Tiered classes based on age models will greatly assist in socializing and learning for the kids. Tiered sports can happen now. Plenty of discussion on it.
Remember that in order for a law to be a Law it has to be "enforced". If a law is not enforced, or selectable enforced then it is deemed not a law and you win in court and the law is removed from the books.
If a person waits 2 weeks they can get a used copy of a CONSOLE game from Gamestop, etc half price. This directly impacts sales from the original company. The same game is then sold 2 weeks later.
PC Games may be pirated but the used games sale market is pretty weak if non-existant. PC Games can sell more initial copies than consoles due to lack of used games eating up the price.
I go to gamestop: Get a nice XBOX for 40 bucks, buy 10 games for 60 bucks, and have a full out used Xbox system. I can modify the XBOX to be a nice Media center with Software mods. I can then have a cheap gamestation and media center for under 100 bucks. NONE of the original manufacturers made money off of me then.
Bottom Line. MAKE MORE PC GAMES without DRM so people will not be forced to pirate the games.

Women look for men who stand out and lead the crowd. Sure, there are geek bunnies, but women are looking for alpha male geeks. Many computer guys will also participate in things like Sports (I was a strong Basketball player but now I play Softball). You would be shocked to see how well the women respond to power and then you show them the intelligence. 30 something women are not looking for the young stud that has no future anymore, they are looking for the strong earner with good body characteristics.

AS for why women are not in the Software Arena. It takes a power approach to get software done these days and women are just not brought up to do constant power battles. Do you realize WHY the programmers do not put the DRM in early? because it is damn annoying to all the people who test the product and the programmers to use it. DRM is anti production and anti product. If the programmers/artists/testers dont want to use the dang DRM then why would anyone who buys the products want to use it?
Simply put. DRM sucks, and if you spent the time to make the product better then you would make craploads of money like Oblivion.
I would say, cause I am saying, that Newark has been expecially bad for this. Internally, our guys have talked about Newark thieves for a while. Take all of our electronics and place it in carry-on. My Laptop case and carry-on get quite heavy at times because of Newark.
If the airlines insured the true amount of the stuff stolen, I bet this would be greatly reduced!
