The chain of command requires that the elected officials take voter responsibility when they accept the job, likewise the employee of the voted official can resign if he/she doesn't like his/her job and/or the voted in official. Just because it is kept secret does not mean it is kept perfectly safe, reasonable steps are taken to assure the safety of these workers, but nothing is perfect so the chance that a leak could occur should be on their minds.

He knew the shitstorm that was going to happen with the cable leaks and he put himself into an unfavorable position. I would bet that if the scenario played out a dozen other times with minor changes, this wouldn't have happened, just some bad timing.

  6. Wrong again on Single-Player Game Model 'Finished,' Says EA Exec · · Score: 1

I think EA just doesn't understand games at all. Sure some games have their on-line benefits and appeal, but to put that philosophy into every game seems false. I can't count how many hours I have wasted playing the various Civilization releases, sure they have multi-player capability, but it's of no interest to me or the handful of others I know who play it. Maybe it's a small demographic, but I would believe it holds validity. Playing games doesn't have to be about another person or even the computer, but against yourself.

I like the iPhone, I think it's a well made device, but I wanted to get something that was more for me. I really think Google has a great approach to development for their platform, their SDK is free and works on multiple platforms, plus they have a web-based version, so you can access your work-in-progress from anywhere. That alone speaks volumes.

It would have been super easy for Apple to say a bad batch was mistakenly released from the factory and made its way into the hands of our consumers, therefore, anyone with a faulty iPhone can get a replacement. But they didn't, instead they compared signal strengths to other devices. Which leaves the other problem, if other devices suffer from the exact same problem, what difference will a bumper make?

Figure out what your colleagues like to do when not working. One place I worked at, everyone played WoW, and I was persuaded to buy the game and play with them, which worked out really well overall as the after hours activities provided a solid bonding process. Even if vastly technologically superior, gathering data would make sense. Of course they may also not understand genocide, especially if they consider us as unworthy. Nuking the planet or even hurling asteroids would seem to be pointless as well as it would make the entire planet uninhabitable for a time, if they wanted minerals or such, as someone pointed out earlier, there are areas of the galaxy where they exist in far greater abundance than here. I suppose they could introduce a virus to wipe us all out, thereby leaving the existing infrastructure intact.
