Went through a period of psychosis in my late teens, but stayed off the anti-psychotics. Took quite a while, but got back on track without the pseudo-science quackery of psychiatry. Now I run my own business and live a pretty balanced life as a respected member of my family and the community.
Interestingly enough, the more 'artistic' (ie music) stuff I do, the more sorta crazy I get, the more I keep the artistic side in check and balanced with other things, the more 'sane' I am.
Wow, that is really interesting. I had the same experience as you, but I'm a musician now. After playing a show, or recording, or writing for a few hours, I feel pretty disconnected, lots of thoughts and ideas just pouring through my head. I actually do crosswords, sudoku, or some programming to 'bring myself back.'
Many/most bullets and shot are still lead. You cant use lead when you're hunting waterfoul (on a lake or water) though, only steel, or maybe bismuth(?).
Slaves with DRM collars? Speak for yourself. There's more to life than DVD's, MP3's and computers man. Go for a jog now and then, there is a bigger world out there.
The sound of, say, Metallica's Garage Inc on tape is way better than on mp3. Cassettes are beautiful. They are durable, unlike CD/DVDs, and I have 25 year old cassettes that still work. They are hardware, tangible mechanical form of music. And there's just something about it that no CD/DVD/MP3s can match. And then there's the cover art sitting on an actual cover. Man I miss those days.
Man this is just wrong. Yes, tape has a higher fidelity than your standard 128 kbps mp3. But not for long. You'll lose most of the highs from ambient electromagnetic interference over the years, unless you store it in a lead box or something.
I wouldn't exactly call them durable either. You've never had a tape eaten by a bad deck? Or a little brother that decorated his room with the tape?
And cover art? It's smaller than a CD case!
Have you ever even heard of vinyl? Promo posters, bifold and trifold albums, bios, and similar band recommendations. I've got 80 year old 78's that still work (good enough) and 50 year 33's that still sound new.
Why would they put long stories on the web, the sanctuary of the short attention span, and not in print, where people pay to spend a lot of time reading it?
I stumbled around for weeks just trying to figure out what the problem was and gave up. OSS, ALSA, JACK, PulseAudio, WTF?? There should be a mixer and that's it. Ardour looks nice, but if I have to screw around with a bunch of cryptic backend shit just to be able to record something it's not worth my time.
With Windows you install Cool Edit or Soundforge and off you go.
Not true. I live in Green Bay, WI and every main road is concrete. All the highways are concrete. Even most side roads are concrete (quite a few are asphalt though).
As far as I understand, as long as they are poured in slabs, ice isn't that big of a deal. When sections of the road get bad, you replace a slab or two and you're good to go.
Now that I think about it, every large highway and any down town road that I've ever been on is made of concrete.

I realize that in official settings the odds are heavily stacked against me, and do not view gambling as a source of income.
Only if you are talking about slot machines, roulette, blackjack, and the poker knock-off games. There are no odds stacked against you in poker or betting on sports games.
I don't know why you got modded funny, I can hear the same thing.
In high school, I'd amaze my friends 20 ft away from the classroom door saying "Cool, we're watching a video today."
Thing is, I'm also a musician, and I'm fairly sure it's not a 'note' I'm hearing. It's super high, but I couldn't sing the note octaves lower, which leads me to believe we've got some hairs in our ear just for super high frequencies, but they don't end up sounding specific, it's just a really really high pitched sound.
You wouldn't likely see anything at all. When you see light, you don't see the actual beams, you see what is reflected off of objects. With radio passing through just about everything, you probably couldn't see anything.

was this test considered effective for anything?
Exactly what the difference between 1500 and 2200 nukes is? What has that really accomplished?
I don't need your bullshit software.

Don't you people ever need to apply BIOS updates? Or run hard drive diagnostic software?
No, the average person doesn't need to do that.
You shouldn't assume because it makes an ass out of 'U' and me.
No. Assuming makes and assu out of me.
What banners where? I tried to find them but couldn't.

I have a recording studio and I run Linux.
But not for recording.

I have a special purpose!
So is China the new Russia now? I don't understand the fearmongering.
I read your comment over and over, and I honestly don't understand what your point is. Could you clarify?
$500/wk > $500/semester

Chinese economy: Made in America.
Yeah all that sunlight being reflected off the roofs at night will surely obfuscate the stars...

You dropped this.
