    Yes. Staggering.

  3. Seconded. I've never heard that "80% is good for Li-Ion batteries".

    I HAVE been taught:
    1. Li-Ion batteries can only handle a limited quantity of charge cycles. After that quantity is reached, they get much crappier quickly. This quantity is usually in the multi-hundreds.
    2. A good charge controller needs to be able to manage the start and end of the cycles correctly. You don't just start pumping constant-current into the battery for 'X' time.

I would only suspect that the "80% rule" could be helpful if the charge controller was a piece of garbage, and could not finish the charge cycle properly. I'd be highly surprised if any modern smartphones contained a crappy charge controller. But hey, maybe Sony is implying something about the quality of their phones.

In my opinion, the chances of that happening are roughly equivalent to the chances of politicians being replaced by AI. There's a lot of influence-peddling involved in both, and the insiders like things the way they are.

I'm not saying it can't happen, just that the forces in each case are similar and resistant to change.

The summary on /. does not actually describe the proposed solution. Here it is, from TFA:

"[P]enalize partners by reducing or eliminating that [ad] revenue sharing if they don't push out updates. If an OEM exceeds the curve and stays up to date, increase the amount of revenue sharing."

I really can't imagine the vendors going for this. I doubt the amount of money involved would be sufficient.

    1. They certainly are not going to notice if I vote R or D. My vote is proportionally more noticeable if I add it to the third-party segment.

Those 5% are more likely to come from Clinton than from trump. Clinton would miss the 5%, meaning that Trump would win more likely. So voting for any candidate than the "lesser evil" doesn't bring you anything, but in fact has a negative effect.

Only in a swing-state. On the other hand, if you live in a state that will absolutely go D or R, you can vote for whomever the heck you want. You would not effectively be robbing votes from anyone. But you would be going on record as giving a big "F U" to the D's or R's.

...rely on a capture card and stream from your PC, but lose the Xbox Live features

So, uh....what's the new part? Here's an explanation of sorts about the new "integration":

any Twitch user who has linked their Xbox Live and Twitch accounts together and is broadcasting an Xbox One game using a capture card will automatically have their content amplified in the following places:

    * The Activity Feed on Xbox One and the Xbox app on Windows 10, iOS and Android
    * Notifications to their followers on Xbox One and the Xbox app on Windows 10, iOS and Android
    * Game Product Details Page in the Xbox Store
