If something in the past happens that you don't think is good (liek a factory being destroyed) then just go back and fix it. If the factory is destroyed, then indeed will all the units be in the future - but you're not really refunded: you just never spent the resources.
There's also Timeshift, an FPS in wich the player has control over time for a small duration. Things like making something fall down then reverse time and get on it are needed to complete the game.
I live in belgium, and i've got the same type of card reader. I know it's also used in the Netherlands, so i think it's standard troughout western europe. Since these attacks where done with a man in the middle attack, i guess they use a simple password. Not very smart if it's about money:P.
"the majority of the top 100 was pirated material"? The pirate bay never actually hosted any illegal files, only files you can easily google...
If TPB loses, then why not press on further and sue google for "hosting illegal (copyright-infringing) files"? Heck, even sue microsoft, as bing accomplishes it too.
Wow, sorry to say this, but you're a graphics whore. ID has always made great games, and will continue to. If they want to focus on making a good game rather then adding dynamic weather, then that is a good thing.
And ID has always put out the SDK's for their games. On a pc, you can mod and change things - make your own part of the game. You can't do that on a console, and that's one of the major reasons i'll stick to PC gaming. That and the xbox/ps3 only have joysticks and i've used a pc mouse nearly all my life:D.
I thnk it's pretty nice that eve manages to make big news time and time again. The game is already complex and very interesting and ever-changing. This will just add another layer to it, increasing the complexity but also giving eve's universe a chance to interest non-MMORPG people. Yes, i know this new game is called an MMO, but you're using guns. You need to aim. It's not goign to be an MMO, it's going to be an fps with MMO elements, like call of duty already has. The big difference will be the dependancy on you from another game - wich is completely unique.
CCP is really trying to make a good game here, and with their history i would like to see how this ends up.
tower defence isn't exactly right... tower defence always makes the enemy come from one certain direction, or a few. In this one mission, they'll more then likely come seeping out of every hole.... oh, and they aren't so stupid to run right past your base either:).
except that the cow has no choice but to be milked. If i wanted to, i could stop using google and use another search engine. If a compan,y does something to piss off the people visiting their site, they'll feel it.
think of what would happen to youtube if they charged for uploading videos... or even worse, for viewing them. I doubt that it would stay like that for long... either the site taken down or no more charging.
Well, if by realistic you mean photo-realistic, then this game is far more realistic. photo-realistic graphics are nowhere near ready for games... unless you like a slideshow, with 5 or more hours in between slides.
Quake 3 was just a lot more simple, but it absolutely was NOT more realistic then the screenshot you provided.
exactly... if you're basically just sitting there, doing nothing, then of course they fall asleep... but in action, when they are actually needed, they wake up. Turbluence is often enough to wake someone, and all the "alarms" inside the cockpit that go off when something's wrong would also form a very big alarm clock.
In the end, the point was that computer's didn't fall asleep - but humans don't either, at least not when they're actually doing something. If an on-board computer is doing nothing (like on the ground, waiting for refueling/pilot's/watchtower's orders, then wouldn't the system go into stand-by too?
the reason why EVE needs this is because of two reasons.
1: the game has ONE server. the "plenty of MMO's" you describe, don't. Eve is the only one that does this - it's one of the selling points of eve.
2: the way resources are respawned. All the asteroids are respawned in one go during the time the server is offline. It doesn't respawn by itself.
At any given time, any one part of the server(a system, in eve) will have one or more players... In some systems, there will ALWAYS be players. An example of it is Jita, the system where most big trades are done. How are you going to migrate it and/or patch it if there's still players on it?
i doubt that PPC will do that. They are situated in GMT zone (if i recall correctly). If they do , for example, maintenance at GMT-11 time, and they have their maintenance at noon GMT -11, that means they have to do this maintenance at 1 AM... it's better to keep their work in daytime - a lot cheaper, especially if it's big maintenance.
yes, and because of the windows live bullshit, i never buy any game that has it, except a few rare exceptions. One before i knew what it was and the other, gears of war, being too good a game.
Basically, my money has been going to any corporation that know how to decently make a game (like gaspowered games, blizzard,...) that hasn't given in to MS' "sponsoring".
that too, but i meant the original (only? :P) one.
sarcasm isn't in your vocabulary, i guess?
if the matix thought us anything, that's about the time humanity gets enslaved as power source :(
I live in belgium, one exploded here too. I also heard about one exploding the Netherlands.
yes it is. The only real built-in network connection is by cable, and with the average joe buying a 360, that's a big problem.

max isn't an OS that is osed as server. Linux is, hence the AV - you don't want your server distributing infected files to the poor windows boxes :P.
Don't you mean instance, without the s? linux doesn't have any viruses, same as mac. Only windows could get a cold :P.

CCP has always been doing a good job before. Maybe it'll still be fun in the end. I do hope for a PC version toguh, and then running them both :P.
yes, but tower defence is stopping a certain enemy from going from point A to point B, with your base somewhere inbetween the two points.

wow, i've never heard about a case where both pilots fell asleep/got heart attacks at the same time.

that doesn't apply to eve online - eve has ONE server in wich all players are - wich is one of the reasons it stands out from the regular MMO market.
