In my opinion this is what netbooks are, fullstop!, and that means with half of the statements of women I agree. "Adoreable"... not really for me, but again, I can understand women here. If you want something "manly" then get a IBM/Lenovo X series computer. X300 is of course unbeatable, but go for a used X-something from IBM if you want to save money. Even the older ones are still better than any cute netbook.
But don't complain about the impression netbooks make! Those impressions are for sure correct. Get used to it!
Hmm... I don't need the dock (which is what you call the task bar) to switch applications. CMD-TAB is wat does this and much faster than any mouse could do this (same on Windows actually). On my linux laptop I have the menus with the application windows, on my 20 inch iMac at work and at home the menus are on the top. Both works well. And when it comes to retarded user interface design (in order to use your words) then this is definitely the strong part of Windows... and this already since decades.
I am against the death penalty but: using the word "science" and "creationism" in one and the same sentence should get shot immediately and without warni...
I'm a post graduate student who has not so many bucks (Pounds in my case) lying around, either. But still, in June as soon as Apple releases their Snow Leopard I will go for a 24 inch iMac. Will cost me about 1085 Pounds as a student (incl. wireless mouse/keyboard), but for this money I get a computer which provides me with excellent value for the price: huge screen with high 1920x1200 resolution, excellent operating system with hardly any anoyances, things-just-work environment whit all the things I (!) need.
I have already an 20 inch iMac with Leopard at the office and therefore I know that it provides me whit precisely my needs. And compared to other students and member of staff which opted for Windows machines the iMac outperfomes them with respect to usability and complete lack of any problems (you have no idea how much problems the Windows machines have in the Windows centric world we have at our office!).
Anyways... I for myself don't mind if Balmer keeps dreaming or throwing chairs.;-)
It is his campagne, it is therefore also his responsibility to take care that things go right! If he cannot keep his people from doing evel it is also his fault. Simple as that!
I suspect that the internet connection in the Elyse Palace has already been cut off. Why would he else move out there to the house of his wife a year after the marriage? If it would have been for his wife he would have done this already when he got married, wouldn't it?;-)
All people are equal, just some are more equal than others. Somehow this story reminds me of this statement again and how true it is.:-/
Now infringing on copyright in the fair use realm is one thing, infringing on copyright to gain financial or professional benefits is something I object! Trying to settle for 1 Euro is indeed rediculous!:-
As a consequence Irish People will be the first to develope good skills in circumventing internet blocking. Easy to use software to get around those things will be developed there for the use of us all if ISP's around the world get into the habit to try the same nonsense. Hey! I love darwinism!:-)
But it is still beta and untill it is released they still have a lot of time to fill in at least 0.3GB of useless stuff, most likely even more than that...;-)
Especially if the electron rolls away and hides under the rug... I can imagine the outcry at the SU lab: "Where did this blody hide?!? Did anybody see my electron?"
Plain and simple: I love my wireless Mighty Mouse which I use with my iMac. Never liked any scroll wheel before until the scroll ball Apple added to this mouse. It is genious! Scrolling in any direction and very precise but still sensitive!
And there is no desire for a laptop mouse. The reason might be the small red dot in the center of my keyboard. The track point of IBM/Lenovo just rocks, no need to move the right hand from the keyboard to the right to grap the mouse and move back to the keyboard for typing...
Get a laser printer. That saves most. I got a year ago an used HP LaserJet 2300dn with 87% of cardige left. 49 Pounds, incl. shiping. Should altogether print about 6700 pages. Which ink printer can compete with this. I will make my PhD without refilling it for sure in the next 2 years...
Can one get busted for a non-existing encryption key? I have part of my encryptionkey on paper and if I ever have suspcicion that I would be forced to reveal it I'll burn or lose it. Then there exist nowhere in the universe a copy of the key (not even in my mind) and I won't be able to give the key even if asked...
Now somewehere in the depths of the US power grid somebody reads the above comment and thinks silently ... "d'oh!"
And somewhere a RIAA/MIAA guy/lwayer reads this and thinks: "Hmmm, we completely forgot about this possibility of revenue!"
There is no way to make it manly. Sorry buddy. Just sit home alone and admiring your pretty new cute unit.
Fixed that for you.

Not that Microsofts software would be worth any penny...
ITNews links to a discussion threat at whirlpool.net.au which has been deleted because it is "handeled by the authorities".
And again it is a known issue of Google which reveals the deleted thread: http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:uf9L_DtjAzYJ:forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1165021.html+http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm%3Ft%3D1165021&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk

Hmm, somewhere someone from the Maffia is thinking this might be a idea .... $^£%&#! CARRIER LOST.

No problem, just post it on Piratebay.org :-) Which is not as convenient as Youtube, but it will remain available...
In 4 years, is there still a Zune around??
I heard that there is a place where they throw chairs at things...

That way NO-ONE is really responsible.
1) Hmm, just wondering ... who did manufacture the seatbelts??
2) ?????
3) Profit!
