If you read the article, these are parcels of land that no one lives on, but more than one people *own*. What his case is doing is forcing the land to be sold so that those owners can come forward and get paid for it. Most owners don't even realize they own the land.
So no one is being *forced out of their homes*. Basically they are getting money they didn't realize they had.
"Enforces statutory damages of $2 million for violations, tripled to $6 million for intentional violations, and unlimited damages for fraud and abuse."
You, sir, are fined for not reading clearly!
Last time i checked, intentional and international were two different words. I believe they still are.
If they use the ODPPPR version, they could shorten it a bit more to ODP3R, although then it would sound a bit more like a C3P0 knock-off, then a web protocol.
Well, considering most of these were written in pure assembly and expected certain timings based on 286/386 instructions, running them on todays machine s would be difficult. Not to mention since most of them were DOS based and had drivers for sound and video builtin, and used old video modes that new cards might not support. Yeah, i'd say it might be tough. I remember lots of the demos were written to use a GUS ( Gravis Ultra Sound ) card. I wouldnt have a clue as to where to find one of those today.
Actually, it came from Tandem, who was purchased by Digital, which was purchased by Compaq, which is now owned by HP. More information can be found unde r hp's NonStop name at nonstop.compaq.com.
All passengers must board the plane butt-naked after recieving a body cavity search. This way you wont be able to carry bombs or weapons on the planes. Much safer for everyone. And as a double-plus, there are already barf bags there incease you witness some not so eye-friendly sights while onboard.
How about we all take a little bit of time today to send out a simple "thanks" email to one person involved with one piece of free software that you use regularly. It'll only take a minute or so, and may just keep that person feeling good enough about doing what they're doing that they'll keep on doing it.
Just what we need... why keep the slashdot effect only on the web, when we can take it straight to you via email!:-)
I think you might have missed my point. If Alice is sending to Bob and this "send" is via satelite, then the same hold's true. The satelite needs to know which measurements to make as well, to be able to send them to Bob. It seems this would only work where Alice and Bob can send directly to each other. Now if Alice is a satelite already and Bob is, lets say, a DSS reciever, then i could see how this could be useful, otherwise its really two seperate channels, one from Alice to the satelite and one from Bob to the satelite. This requires Alice and Bob to trust the satelite, which to me, makes this damn near worthless. Still, it is cool none the less.
If Eve can't intercept the stream and recreate it verbatim back to Bob, then what kind of technology will this satelite have that can violate the laws of physics?
... it's the people that are failing.

I like the much better way of adding a:
.chsrc
.cshrc file
.login / .profile / etc as appropriate.
echo "sleep 1" >>
To the end of their
* Substitute
Now if only Microsoft had a mascot that was a small cute furry animal.

who knows... but as soon as they get it working, they can use it to search for a better name!
Sorry, someone was gonna ask, so it might as well be me. :-)

Here's the deal folks:

Hmm... doing some simple math.
1GB = 1024 * 1024 KB = 1048576 KB
1048576 KB @ 800KB/sec = 1310.72 secs or
21 mins and 50.7 secs
To copy a 1gig file under linux (from the same fs to the same fs) took 5:37. Doesnt seem quite so slow to me, considering.
It says titles. So that's like a list of movies, and not the actual movie, right?
I guess they will be "goner"s real soon.

Maybe these guys can get with Applied Digital to make the watch powered by a body heat battery.
I believe that the DMCA states that the devices primary purpose is to circumvent. If it happens to do it as a side effect, then it should be allowed.
