    From my experience, due to the much smaller laser size of DVD, it takes much less of a scratch to make it readable. Look at a burned CD next to a burned DVD. The CD almost looks coarse in comparison.

    When I go to the site I get:

    The connection was reset

    The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

    And this was with FF 2.0.0.14, so they can't blame my client.

    Would you believe, I'm sure you would, that I got modded troll just for stating the fact that you can't even discuess politics here without being given the troll... I'm not used to being marked troll. In all my posts I'm either going for Funny or Insightful. My Karma has always been excelent. You can see from my ID I've been around for quite a while. It used to not be this way. The moment you talk politics expect to be marked troll.

    I predict even this will be trolled.

    Food prices will be fine silly. This isn't based on corn. This is based on something we have unlimited sources of, and we don't really need... Water. Yes, they can finally make fuel out of water. It only takes 3000 gallons of water to make 1 gal of fuel, isn't that great! And since we have more water than we know what to do with, we're in great shape! Well, there is that problem with people needing to drink water... Oh and those damn cows like it... What you say? We give water to our corn? AND switchgrass?

    Ok, back to work on the solar cars. In the future the earth will be dark and cold because all the light will be captured by soloar panels.

    But as for Wright... If what the guy said WAS taken out of context, I would expect Obama to stay in and defend, not cave. By leaving he's telling me that he does NOT agree with what he says, and he should have left 19 years ago.

    Wow... this is a 5 page promo for the obama campaign. For those who don't want to read, let me summarize, each page reads the same.

    Issue:
    Clinton - has a liberal idea, lets write a short sentence about it.
    McCain - Has a conservative idea, lets write another short sentence.
    Obama - Obama is the darling of all media and can do no wrong even if he has belonged to an anti-american church for the last 20 years. Lets talk about his GREAT idea, how it's going to feed the hungry, house the homeless and generally promote world peace. Then we'll talk about how his idea is the best, why everyone else is ignoring the issue and oh yeah, CHANGE! Lets talk about CHANGE! It doesn't have to be change for the better, in fact, it'll probably be worse, but as long as WE'RE GETTING SOME CHANGE!!!

    Oh, and continue that for about 12 paragraphs, and throw in some links to back it up. Don't forget, all big corps are evil.

    I don't see what benefit there would be for me There are benefits, they just may not be as direct as you like, or appreciated.

    We use analiytics. We use it almost exclusively to improve the experience of our customers. We don't care how many people come to our site. We care how many buy... and we have internal reports for that. What we do care about is:
    How many people are not using IE. (We found it was worth making sure all pages worked on most all.

    How many people are at 1280*1024 or over.
    We dropped the notion that we needed to program for 800*600, thereby letting people use more of those big ass screens they buy.

    Where are most of the people located?
    We now have an east coast and west coast server.

    What pages are most viewed?
    We made them easier to get to.

    Who doesn't have flash?
    It was 2.08%, but I'm still not going to let them put flash on my site.

    Until I ad a few more servers to the farm, I wouldn't try direct linking from the front page of /.

    Currently I have 3MB fiber, 2 Opteron 2.0GHz with 4GB, both pointing to a 8 core xeon with 6 spindles and 8GB Ram... I was going to ask yall how long you think it could take the load, but there's a lot of difference between posting index.php and spacer.gif... So nevermind.

    If you don't want to spend that much, go to newegg, search for 1u and enjoy the 379 results.

    Didn't you guys see I am Legend? I just saw it last weekend. This is a terrible Idea, they're going to develope a mutant strain of bacteria that will turn all 'designated' corn into fuel. Then in a few years it will turn all the plants, not just the corn into human eating vegimonsters that will devower all people and force us to live in New Hampsher in a walled colony with just the few vegetables (asparagus, brussel sprouts) that are immune. That is until a super smart plant in manhattan develops are cure and is killed right after it's made. Luckily he attached it to a few dandylion seeds that floated to NH so the cure was not lost.

    No Thanks, I'll just keep burning oil!

    Oh yeah, I know what you mean, my kids saved over it once, yikes.

    I got stuck in the emporer level by the door way to the room with nothing but a hole and a minikit.

    The worse was in the juntland wastes there's a place with a mud pit and a sloping wall beside it. I jumped to the wall, and slid in the mud and died. Each time it respawned me on the slope, I I had no traction to jump off and I'd fall in the mud. I eventually figured that if I dropped out and moved the other character far away the game would just move him somewhere safe.

    I play it with my 5 year old, he skips all the damn coins... drives me nuts. We're somewhere like 60% but the kids scratched it so there's 2 levels we can't play at all. Just got to the lego city, that was a disapointment... They've bought all the characters, most of the good power ups, only the 2x multiplier though... They keep spending the money on stuff they won't use. I think my favorite setup is the ewok with the explosive catapult and invincibility... Just walk up and kill everything. My son drives me crazy playing explosive robots. It's funny though, he gets mad at his 3 year old brother for slowing HIM down.

    We just bought defender used. It's ok. The kids can't handle the mission instructions (get the people, bring them somewhere safe, if an alien gets them get them back) but it doesn't matter because they love to just fly around and shoot at stuff, even if it's each other.

    I agree with you on the server/desktop stuff. The only time I've been bitton on a server was when I got a 64bit server, 64bit windows, and then tried to install exchange 2003... Won't install!@#$ And this was before there was a 2007 version. Luckily the license for 2k3 server said you can run 32 or 64bit versions. I was able to find an iso and use my legal key.

    As for my desktops, all the workstations we order are 64bit. And we always choose the 32bit OS. We get Vista for the power users that can fix their own crap, and XP for the people the ones that can't. (Can't teach an old dog new tricks)

    Well I was using the assumption that I don't know everything, hard to believe, I know. And seeing that I am not familiar with Hasselblad cameras, I thought there just may have been a few people working out there with 64bit color. Now, I'm a little more confident that there aren't any 64bit monitors, so you'd have to be pretty damn good to manage colors that you can't actually see.
