For those who don't know Quinn, IIRC he's the guy who wrote Internet Config for the Mac, what 10 years ago? Up until that point, you had to change internet prefs in a bunch of different places. With his program (which, again IIRC, was eventually integrated with the OS), you could change it in one spot.
The date of the article is March 3, 2003. Is this the short term future of Linux? I wonder if the stock market info on the sidebar is from that date as well!
And what would you like to tell your ($ageInDays + 13)-year-old self?;)
Finally, innovations among peer-to-peer software developers themselves could limit the use of the monitoring tools. Most file-swapping communications today are unencrypted, or transmitted relatively openly over the Net. If monitoring and blocking tools were widely introduced, new software programs could easily develop ways to encrypt or scramble the data in transmission in order to make it unrecognizable by Audible Magic's tools or other databases.
"Clearly that's a problem," said Ikezoye, adding that his company still would have markets in this eventuality. "It's always a concern, particularly from private corporations, to have encrypted data flowing out of your network. We definitely see an opportunity in corporations."
No, no, wait. I think you're on to something there. Let them take their toys and go off onto their own Microsoft Internet, thus leaving us along on the real Internet. Ohhhh, the peaceful, peaceful times we would have! Sort of like Usenet pre-AOL.:)
Erm, it does have type ahead -- I just used that feature. And the 'throbbing' is done in the background of the location bar -- watch for the blue progress bar, which you might miss since it's so bloody fast.:)
Those interested in Java 1.4.x development should also head over there to download the Java 1.4.1 Developer Preview 8 (pre-release implementation of JDK 1.4.1 that runs on Mac OS X 10.2 or later).
That's all well and good...

There is an experimental build of Phoenix for Mac OS X, actually, which doesn't feel all that awfully experimental.
Oh yeah? Don't let the carbon nanotube ribbon hit you on the way out.
Hell, I'll put a cartoon expletive !$#*&?! in there. Quinn r0X0rz. :)
Whoa, talk about going back to the future.

All hail Quinn!
Frink: Here is an ordinary square --
Wiggum: Whoa, whoa, slow down, egghead.
Frink: -- but suppose we extend the square beyond the two dimensions of our universe, along the hypothetical Z axis, there.
Everyone: (gasps)
Frink: This forms a three-dimensional object known as a "cube", or a "Frinkahedron" in honor of its discoverer.
Homer: Help me! Are you helping me, or are you going on and on?
Frink: Oh, right. And, of course, within, we find the doomed individual.
Somehow, I just *knew* this was coming. ;)
Now all I need is a carbonized Deus Ex (yeah, not likely) and I will be in heaven. Well, that and Carmageddon I and II. ;)

Yes, too bad there aren't bigger names doing something with open source.
Here's my buddy Paul's entry there, outside Area 51. :)

That would be the Great Chicago Puddle of Milk, though, no where near as impressive as the real thing. ;)

This makes me think that given half a chance humans will find a game in even the simplest activity.

I agree with you completely.
BTW, what's your karma?

Speaking as someone with a Snoopy tattoo on his forearm, I take great offense at this 'joke.'
