When I buy the parts for hardware I always ensure that Linux drivers are available. Try to find the hardware that allows a choice (of either XP or Linux).
The worst thing was how they retconned stuff as time went along. Eg. what happened to Mulder's sister. First it was said to be one thing, and then it was ignored completely years later. There was no real continuity. I appreciate the early years mainly.
They should make Mulder wake up and find out that the last 2 years were a dream..
Sometimes I want to buy some gadget which has certain features, and I look in the local shops, then I can't find it. Instead I find yesterday's (or last year's, or the last 6 month's) model, and for the same price too or even overpriced. I don't buy in that case, if anything I might buy online from another country, cheaper and a more recent model.
You know, I was thinking that when the genome record of different species are compared, one can think that the similarity is a proof of evolution, yet if you compare two different programs, and you find code reuse, nobody would conclude that one program 'evolved' into another one, no? It's incorrect to think that evolution requires God to be missing. It just doesn't say anything regarding the WHO, only the HOW. There is also the Intelligent Design argument, which has to be considered too.
I don't think much about your prediction. There have been many failed predictions, so what's another one?
No there are other archives for more specialised subsets of groups (eg Maltese newsgroups, something I kept my own archive of), not the whole of Usenet however as far as I'm aware.

I think converting to dv-firewire is going to be bad if you want to filter the source, and usually that's needed with noisy VHS. So the best thing is an internal capture card. The faster the PC, the better, because you get less frame drops.
I think it would all depend on which open source license. Perhaps there is one already, or one might be created, which fits this model. Basically it gives those rights explicitly, rather than just saying 'free for academic and non-profit use'. It would have to specify what would be allowed etc.
In the Doctor Who episode Seeds of Death, Earth stops using rockets..
This news brought to my mind that episode with the second doctor (Patrick Troughton), who gets to the moon in an old rocket (perhaps it was an Atlas!).
It can look similar though.
You can install skins (or what it's called) to get the Windows XP look and feel under Gnome or KDE.
It can help ease the transition. Plus use Wine of course.

You're lucky to be able to rent them. Where I live, there aren't any for rent. You have to buy them, and get them from abroad (typically amazon.com).

It was IBM that called it the IBM PC...
You could say there's enough crossovers as is on the Internet itself... but I would like to see them anyway.
Some of the country TLDs are more expensive (already) in comparison...
Just type in the group's name. That's what I usually do.
People will think they are the same, which is a shame.

Just press CTRL-+ like I do. (control and +).
It enlarges the font and the problem goes away.
I have no problems with 1.0.
Perhaps your PC has some bad memory. Try a memory test such as Memtest.
I don't like it too. I tried it and uninstalled it because it looked terrible.
It doesn't work in every country of the world however. Even some EU countries aren't allowed to use it.
The perfect music store for me would have no drm, and would offer tracks in FLAC format.
I would prefer the Doctor's TARDIS, though it has some navigation problems at times.
I rented the normal versions but I'm looking forward to this extended version.
I think you would miss some extras, possibly, or they could be different again. They are different from the normal non-extended releases BTW.
Doctor Who's Ark in Space was released in this way too. It keeps everyone happy IMHO.

With all the pound/half pound shops that are opening, I think you could be right.
I used to see Derrick in the italian dub version..
now that was a great tv show.
