It's never about skills. I have worked for companies that do off-shoring. They're no better. They're the same. Some are good but some aren't. But the off-shore team was much bigger because you can get developers for less than minimum wage in this country and amazingly companies can live with loads of incompetence when labour is dirt cheap.
It's not just about wages, it's also about labour laws and not having to give benefits like pensions. They would probably even pay uk wages to these people as long as they still get to treat them like shit.
These people aren't dumb, they know they're being taken advantage of. The good ones are looking to move to the UK, Canada, US, etc to get their decent wage and benefits.
I noticed that too. I think someone was a bit too happy about this and the company decided they have to show some level of support for the guy even if he's a complete ass.
The whole problem with the internet is that there no where near enough competition already amongst ISPs. How is effectively killing competition amongst online businesses going to improve anything?
When you're walking down the street or in a shop you do not announce who you are to everyone so why would you do it online?
Secondly, computers are no where near being secure. I don't want to have everything I do effectively tagged with my name on it. It's not just a case of whether I keep my computer secure but if all those servers I'm using keep their hardware secure.
Knowing someone's name has never stopped them from committing a crime. This won't either. What it will do is allow companies, like Kaspersky, to offer online ID protection.
Their CEO has proven to be a dickhead so I'm going to ensure I never use their products.
That's pretty much guaranteed not to change just because companies will throttle bandwidth on small businesses. People in the middle of nowhere aren't profitable. They'll do anything to ignore them.
I'd say under those circumstanes, they wouldn't pay for a loss either and those who do deserve compensation would get something a bit more realistic with the remainder going to charity.
If that would still lower the number of lawsuits then I would say most lawsuits are sham and only initiated be someone to get rich. Which I think is true tbh.
Consider guys in IT generally take the piss out of each other, I'm not sure why women feel they should be treated any differently. in fact, isn't that the point of equality that you're treated the same?
If you prefer an environment where people aren't as humorous but instead talk about how well each other is dressed and other safe bland crap then perhaps you should look for IT jobs in places where individuality has already been neutered, like government offices, old well established companies or your kitchen.
I know there are load of people who don't get what news should be and prefer rubbish like fox news and yeah he's just taking advantage of mouth breathers.
In a way I don't blame him but he doesn't help the problem and the reason genuine news doesn't sell is because it is boring and there isn't actually that much going on in the world that's worth talking about.
If murdoch wants to pander to the lowest level then fine but he should have to label it entertainment and not news
This is assuming there are only two extremes. Those who code non-stop and those who don't code at all. There are all sorts of levels in between.
It would cause warnings for me if someone said they refuse to code in their free time. I don't expect them to do it all the time (that's a bit weird too) but if they love what they do then, at some point, they should do it in their free time.
Yeah he was making decisions about the internet like paying far too much for MySpace. Any success with WSJ subscriptions is purely down to it's targeted market and its reputation. Anyone could have managed that and his failure with MySpace will certainly wipe out anything he may have done with WSJ.
He's stupid hateful little man. I can't wait for him to die.
This article is about Rupert Murdoch so we're not talking about real news.
We have too much news as it is. There isn't enough interesting things going on to justify numerous 24 hour news outlets. Imo, this is why some are sensationalising news and effectively turning opinion into fact too.
We don't need that and it's damages society.
We could do with these big news corporations falling apart. Go back to more localised news and if you want to find out about news outside of your area then go to Google.
You've made money off other people's work via the HL ports/expansion packs and the halo port amongst others. I have no problem with that and love Opposing force, blue shift and some of the BiA games.
So I do think it's a bit hypocritical. Sure Gearbox did dev work on thosse titles and deserve to get paid. Valve may not add input into the dev of the games on Steam but that network doesn't run itself for free so of course they should get some cash.
It just sounds like a case of sour grapes because you have to start making original titles, which aren't guaranteed to make as much and you don't really want to pony up the cash for Steam despite the fact Steam is promoting your games and enhancing the likely hood that it will sell. I certainly didn't know about it before. Now I just have to decide if it will be good enough to ignore the fact at least one of its devs is a whingy fuss bag on the subject of Steam before deciding whether or not to buy the game on Steam. which is the only place I buy PC games these days.
I know that guy, he lives in Imaginary Land.

Not only will you look like a twat but the more you rely on technology to hold your hand, the worse your memory will get.
I noticed that too. I think someone was a bit too happy about this and the company decided they have to show some level of support for the guy even if he's a complete ass.
Water will kill you if you drink too much of it. So it's not much of a surprise that supposed bad things can be beneficial when used sensibly.

The same goes for people in the street. Perhaps we should require people to have their name tattooed on their forehead.
That's pretty much guaranteed not to change just because companies will throttle bandwidth on small businesses. People in the middle of nowhere aren't profitable. They'll do anything to ignore them.
Helping the Nazis is worse than insider trading.
As long as it open enough to be used on any system (within reason) that's all that matters. Supporting Lynx is unnecessary.
What are Sony phones of the mobile phones?

You sue them for $10 million and that $10 million goes toward a charity and never even touches the hands of the person suing.

But does she dye there too? These sorts of questions need to be answered.

He was still born an Aussie and your country can always be proud of that and that Energizer guy from the 80's.
Yeah because Murdoch knows he panders to poor inbred mouth breathers and there is no money to be made from racist douche bags in a trailer park.
Perhaps his new companies should try raising the bar on their quality rather than asking Google to fund their half assed "journalism".

Fox provides RSS feeds with content within them. Google doesn't need to make their own.

if you're having a party that involves this "party" pack then you might as well slit your wrists and flush your head down the toilet.
