Assuming this passes... Say Joe Schmoe from Finland has a 'great' idea, registers someproduct.com, and pisses off company X, cause they have a trademark with 'someproduct'? Whos gonna handle this? The US? Does the US have jurisdicton in other countries like that? Does this bill only 'work' if both parties reside in the States?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but as the guy above you said: they've been accepting orders for quite some time now. I ordered mine the day/. had a link to the CNN article. Seems most people missed the fact that they put thier phone number on the site, and said you could reserve yours. I called to reserve mine, and found out that I could just order it right then, and so I did.:)

got a linux ip_masq box running great on cable, and my machine inside of it (among other boxes). I have an irc bot runnin on the ip_masq box, so other people can access it - DCC works just fine for everyone, except me! I think the bot (eggdrop) sees a DCC chat req comming from the 'external' ip #, and tries to essentially connect to itself. now I can get into the bot via telnet, so I'm not completely stranded, but it'd be nice to use DCC chat instead. Am I stuck with telnetting, or does anyone know how to fix this?

Seems to me that Ballmer wouldn't say this if it were not for the current situation with the fine folks over at the DoJ. I just dont see it as Microsoft's style to purposely point that stuff out on their own...

Found a company that does *killer* modems, including PCI, and supports Linux. Even their flagship product: a modem that will take a voicemail msg of call waiting while yer on the net, and allow you to stay connected, is supported for Linux. http://www.actiontec.com

I like the doom looking screen. Looks cool. Of course, I've been bragging to all of my windows friends that I DO have my voodoo2 working in linux, and of course the linux port will hit before thiers:)

They have a few vendors that carry them at www.pricewatch.com (go to Storage: Removable | ORB). My friend ordered one a little bit ago, yet I havent talked to him since, so maybe I'll get him to reply to this thread if the shipment has come in and he's had a chance to play with it.

The article also states that NY and LA are two cities (of four, I presume) slated for the purely digital screening. Best I could find was that it will take place June 18th. Anyone have any more info?
A random thought: the folks that wanted to see it a bunch of days in a row are gonna be in for quite a few times. It only says that you can prepurchase tickets for the same day only (then I'll buy 3 tickets: 7pm, 9:30pm, 12am). Seeing it the next day will require waiting in a similarily long line as the day before...*sigh*. Wonder if work will let me off a few days in a row?

This kinda goes back to a comment I saw yesterday:
Social change still takes time, however quickly information can move. People still change gradually. --Evan Vetere
The FUD that that is created "no such thing as a free lunch" is purely based upon ages and ages of paying for goods. We are entering a whole new age, where people CAN give their blood, sweat, and tears away for free, and still make money in another form (documentation, support, et al). The only one I really disagree with is "Why would anyone write good software and give it away free?" The people that will/do say this are those that also say "How can anyone sit in front of their computer for 12 hours straight?!? I cant stand it for 2 hours!" They dont realize that this is something we love. I personally say to myself that I get to go to work, rather than I have to go to work. Its a hobby that we're lucky enough to make $$ from.:)

I looked and looked, and found 2 comments posted by Even Vetere, both in the same thread. Neither of which referred to Matt Drudge. A search on/. for "drudge" turned up 2 articles: this one, and another, which doesnt say much. Could you find the one you were looking for?
yes, I think we are a bit off topic:)
----- If Bill Gates had a nickel for every time Windows crashed...
I never said that that his comments were unjustified - I merely asked why (hence, the astericks around the word. maybe I should have used HTML tags instead?). I admittedly do not "know anything about the subject at hand," and I therefore requested him to justify. If it is justifiable, then I will agree with Lotek. Otherwise, no.
In answer to your question of why I am posting: so that I may be informed. I abhor unjustified flaming, as it shows no respect. -Nate

Lotek- So you have some strong opinions regarding Mr. Drudge. (I personally have never heard of him.)
My question for you is *why*? You do nothing but insult him without any basis for your reasoning? If you are going to object to a certain person, please object to their actions, with facts and logical reasoning, and not resort to irrationally calling names. -Nate
