In Norway, online banking has two password associated with the account. One permanent, and one one-time password. Both must be correct to get access to the account. So, even if a phisher got both password, the one-time password wouldn't be useful after that session anyways.
Don't know why the US online banks don't have a similar system.
As well, MST has the distinct honor that it's feature film marks the only time in history that such a large group of fans wrote to a movie studio demanding that a movie be made that it actually worked.
Sutter and Alexandrescu had some advice about it C++ Coding Standards (I would think it would apply to other languages too). Don't optimize prematurely and don't pessimize prematurely. Micro optimization is useless unless you know for sure that that particular code segment is a bottleneck. OTOH, there are no reason you should pass stuff by value if you can get away with passing it by reference, or do i++ instead of ++i. As someone pointed out earlier in the disccusion, choosing the right algorithm is more important.
Do tell me how am I going to have to type in a Chinese or Japanese domain name if I don't have keyboard layout (not to mention that I amy not even know *how* to input all these gliphs...).
Do tell me when you became the world. Just because you personally likely won't use a feature doesn't mean it isn't useful for someone out there (what's the population of China and Japan combined?)
Last Episode we learned that Hoshi was kicked out of Starfleet Academy for breaking a superiors arm after he tried to break up an underground poker game she was running.
Oh. please. All that came out of left field. Where was her Aikido skills during the Xindi arc?
And humans are the best and the brightest in the whole universe? Wonder who wrote that line? Could writers be more self-centered? And how come the aliens was complaining about how physical beings needed to speak to communicate, when they did so themselves?
The Augments three-parter and the Vulcan three-parter was much better...
everyone will attack the submitters' "geekier" claim and mindlessly defend Firefox without even bothering to try K-Meleon, which really is faster and more configurable.
How could I try k-meleon when it doesn't run on the platform of my choosing? Point me to the Linux binaries, and I'll try it out.
I think one of the 'problems' of reading online news sources, are that you seek out news that confirms your world view. You also tend out to seek out news that you think might be interesting to you, and missing on a whole lot of other news.
Take the tsunami for instance. I wasn't watching the news or reading the papers around the time (hadn't started up my newspaper subscription yet). I did seek out the usual online sources, clicking only the links that I thought would be interesting to me. I didn't actually find out about the extent of the tsunami until Wednesday, and that's only because I saw it on CNN (tv not website).
Reading newspapers, I tend to read for start to finish, picking up interesting book reviews or local events I wouldn't have read about otherwise.
I don't own a car (been biking everywhere for a number of years), but the dealership where my mom bought her car calls her when it's time for her next car checkup.
You pay for that service. Are your mom willing to pay a support contract? They exists you know.
No, that's not true. Don't post if you don't know for sure. I've worked alongside several F-1 aliens in a non-university setting.
I could say the same to you. I am on a F-1 student visa.
He can work off-campus after one year of academic studies and provided he is in good academic standing. Work must be part time (
Right. Part-time and in GOOD academic standing are the key words here. And then ONLY after you have been studying for ONE year. The grandparent's post talked about working FULL time while attending night classes.
Many US grad schools offer night time and weekend classes. You need to find a job here and then go to school in your off time.
That's not going to work if he's from India and looking for work in the US (or UK). He'll get a F-1 visa, meaning he won't be allowed to work in the US (and UK probably has similar rules). As a foreign student, you can work in a limited capacity for your university (about 10 hours a week). You're not allowed to work outside the university while you pursue your degree.
And you can't always tell. An asshat in Norway had managed to steal a Red Cross collection tincan (or whatever you call it in English, bøsse in Norwegian). Fortunately he got caught, but there have been a couple of instances of people either stealing directly from the collection plates or just going around telling people they are collecting money for the tsunami victims.
1) Sarge hasn't been released yet, so upgraded from Woody to Sarge is not guaranteed to work *yet* 2) Gnome 2.8 was just recently moved into Sarge, so some unstability was to be expected.
You just chose a really unfortunate time to do the upgrade (when I went from Woody to Sarge, Sarge had been relatively stable for a couple of weeks, as in no major packages had been moved into Sarge for awhile)
If the BBC were ever given funds to develop a proper US news service, I'm sure it would be successful - politicans couldn't criticize it for being left wing or right wing
Are you kidding? Just when the war in the Iraq started, Fox News pretty much stamped BBC News as liberal propaganda not that far above Al Jazeera. And you get a pretty good feel for what the Bush administration feel about different people by listening to Fox News.
I actually want to prevent people or companies from taking my code and not giving inhancements back to the community.
Then you are using the wrong license. GPL doesn't stop a company from taking your code, enhance it, use it internally and not release the changes back to the community. In fact, even if a company distribute the code, it has no obligation to return the changes to the community, only to the person receiving the program.
I would be more than happy to see a clause that says something to the effect of, "If you or a company you have intrumental control over files a patent infringement suit against this or any other software licensed under an Open Source license, then you are forbidden from using this software in any way."
Again, you don't understand the spirit of GPL. It's not a EULA. It only deals with distribution. It has no limits on use, and that's a good thing.
Bernstein has a pretty long discussion about it on his page

Only time? What about Firefly?
So you want to get back to the Netscape days? And that's supposed to be a good thing?

JMS already pulled the idea (Paramount decided to give Trek TV a rest).
Check out the updated info at TrekWeb

When you buy a coke can, you get a couple cents for recycling.
You do realize those couple of cents are built into the price of the coke, right?
Babylon 5 seemed to do that. What's the big fear about trying likewise again?
Whedon tried it with Firefly. It was pretty much canceled before it got aired.

Apparently not
Why would a release of OpenOffice make it the year of Gnome? Isn't OpenOffice independent of Gnome (I run it fine in KDE)?
Also, the header is soo misleading (I thought I had done timejump or something)

Well, Bush didn't need to. He already had Fox News. For free.

Phone/MS Messenger with my parents, skype with my brother
Wonder why they are incorporating three stories in one? At least "The Yellow Bastard" seemed long enough to merrit its own movie...

Actually, Cartoon Network would be a pretty good choice. It's relatively unoffensive programming to the majority of people.
