    There are already toilets that put the seat down already. They're readily available in Japan and probably available at a dealer where ever you might be.

    One of the problems is that in some cases you need to mark both devices. For example, for some Android phones the top of the micro cable corresponds to the screen, while with other phones the top corresponds to the rear of the device. It is an issue mainly for developers who deal with multiple devices in an single day, but still.

    Using signal strength you can get a rough estimate of which beacon is closest. With more than 2 beacons you can estimate your position relative to the beacons.

    No, the island was an issue well before then. Chinese politicians were raising the issue, and Chinese (and Taiwanese) boats were landing on the island before it was "nationalized" (essentially re-nationalized because it was owned by the Japanese government and then leased. The "nationalization" was the cancellation of the lease).

    ICs weren't invented for the space industry, but it is from the space and military industries that the transistor and IC manufacturers received a lot of their initial funding. For both the space and military industries the high costs of transistors and ICs was justified by their space, weight and energy-use savings along with their heat resistance. For business and consumers the benefits didn't justify the costs.

    If is wasn't for the space and military industries the development of transistors and ICs would probably have been slower.

    It's more than just a transistor. That it is multiple connected components is what gives it significance in the history of technology.

    It's a piece of history. The price tag is determined by those who value history.

    Actually that was the goal of the AndroVM project. Unfortunately, that project became the commercial Genymotion project and the goal doesn't appear to be desktop integration, but instead a developer tool. You can use it to run apps, but I don't see any specific integration features.

    Otherwise, there is BlueStacks, but it runs on Windows and Mac, but not Linux.

    Given that Linear A hasn't been deciphered yet, I wonder how they justify putting it in unicode. They don't know for certain which glyphs are distinct characters yet.

    Jobs was the one that turned what Woz made into a company. Woz wasn't interested in starting a company. Jobs had to struggle to convince Woz to leave HP and start Apple. If it wasn't for Jobs, Woz might have spent the rest of his life designing calculators at HP. (HP wasn't interested in the computer Woz created, nor does it seem to have recognized Woz's ability.)

    Next, the book was not meant to be just a story that entertains. She felt very strongly about certain ideals since she transitioned from Communism to Capitalism, and she writes at the very edge of the continuum. You read it, you analyze it, you adopt the ideals that make sense to you and reject those that don't. Not sure why this concept is so foreign nowadays. I don't share her atheism, but I certainly share her ideals on capitalism.

    That may be very well for you, but Ayn would say that if you disagree with any of her ideas, especially including atheism, then you don't understand her at all.

    Some of the things you originally mentioned like wages, taxes and transportation costs won't be significantly different between LEDs and incandescents. For other things you mentioned the prices will go down as they are mass produced and further efficiencies are found. Of course this will take time and LEDs will probably never be as cheap as incandescents, but at some point in the future they'll probably be at a price where there is no sticker shock.

    As production of LED bulbs increase their costs will go down.
