    Not to mention the blue wall of injustice. The fact is that even "good" cops are bad, because they all protect the truly bad cops. If "good" cops want to actually be good cops, they need to turn in the abusive assholes and return some respectability to their profession. As it is, I don't trust a single pig.

    Nearly every book in a library is copyrighted, so there is almost no possible non-infringing use for a library copier. Sounds like it's intended to aid infringement.

    When these incidents happen, how often do the pigs face real punishment? That doesn't mean desk duty, or leave with pay. I mean life in prison, the kind of thing the rest of us would do for blatantly murdering someone then trying to cover it up by assaulting and threatening witnesses.

    The whole system is corrupt and needs to be flushed.

    Well, yes, that's true. I dated a Mexican girl for a while who told me about how she got teased in the locker room as a child because her nipples were dark colored. I guess the message here is that kids are assholes and will find any reason to tease other kids, no matter how stupid.

    Amazing isn't it? People want to use the tax system as way to shape society in their own personal view of what's right, but then those same people complain when people with more money and clout do the same thing. One of the best things we could do in this country is simplify our tax code so it fits on a couple of pages and forces everyone to pay their share, poor and wealthy alike. If you want to provide for the poor, do it directly through tax-funded programs rather than creating a tax system which simply doesn't work.

    You're right, but the problem is that there are more stupid people who will forgo doing what you suggest and will remain blissfully ignorant. An even bigger problem is that those people can also vote. Their choices for "leadership" can and will greatly hamper your personal quest to improve yourself by making sure that such dangerous things as chemistry sets and GPS units without the Idiot Chip installed are not available to the public.

    Considering 95% of all tablets in the wild (meaning the iPad) have no SD Card, having a card reader in a tablet is still somewhat of a novelty. How Apple gets away with that kind of thing I'll never know.

    I watch movies and TV shows for quality of writing and acting, not resolution and sound quality. Maybe you need to improve what you're actually watching, rather than what format it's in.

    People that sell used games are potential customers for new games. Not being able to sell the old game affects their ability to purchase another new game.

    Publishers can certainly choose to gamble on this if they want, I just wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't end the way they like.

    Most people have a limited budget for entertainment. If someone can spend $60 on a new game, sell it for $30, and buy a second game for $60 their total outlay is $90. Not being able to resell a game will mean they can no longer buy a second game.

    This just isn't that complicated.

    If the used game market is eliminated entirely, prices will have to fall accordingly or they will simply sell less units.

    That's the theory anyway. And it could work, until somebody invents a bread making robot that eliminates the need for bakers entirely.

    The beauty of the free market is that fact that it seems to find its own equilibrium. Problem is, technology has increased the pace at which fundamental changes in a market occur, and at some point (if it hasn't happened already, and likely has in some industries) the pace of change is greater than the pace at which the market players can find that equilibrium.

    This is something I think about from time to time. The fact that the world economy works at all is sometimes mind boggling. I know I'M certainly not smart enough to understand its intracacies at any rate.

    Tax rates are not by zip code. Many times they are, many other times they are not. Beyond that, there are frequently rules about how to categorize products that differ wildly so it's not as simple as just getting the rate right. Different types of products may have different rates in different tax jurisdictions.

    Spoken like someone who has never actually dealt with sales tax rules and categorizing products based on those rules down the city level.

    Even if such a service becomes available, it will likely cost enough to drive small companies out of business while Amazon can eat the costs. Glad to hear that congress has a plan to consolidate business in the hands of the wealthy even further.
