Even as a libertarian, I agree 100%. There are some things that government can do better than private companies. Anything which requires a physical connection to every location and where duplication of that physical medium is not cost effective. Roads, water, sewer, and now telecom.
We need to move to a new model where the local government (local mind you, not state or federal) needs to own the physical lines and ISPs can purchase access to those lines.
You don't have to ban parties. Just leave their names off the ballot. Why does the government have to bend to the will of private organizations and put the letter R or D or I next to the person's name on the ballot?
The only reason to do so is to allow uninformed voters easily vote a straight ticket thereby perpetuating the current parties stranglehold on government. Hell, some ballots have a single box you can fill in to vote a straight ticket, you don't even have to go to the trouble of marking each candidate.
If someone claims 100% ownership of the fruit your labor, you're a slave. At 100% tax rate, you're a slave, not a citizen. The lower the tax rate, the less of a slave you are. What's so hard to understand?
Actually, it's the American Democrats who have taken the term for their own, despite the fact that they continually clamp down on liberty just as the Republicans do.
Almost everyone is a criminal, it's just a matter of degrees and whether or not the established powers believe you are in their way. According to the US government, some guy sitting in his living room smoking pot is a criminal. But is he really a menace to society that needs to be stopped?
You've never actually been anywhere that it snows, have you?
Do you honestly think the millions of people in Minneapolis, Chicago, Buffalo all use tire chains? Roads would have to be replaced completely every year.
My nine year old daughter lives with her mom. We talk on the phone several times a week and she visits me every weekend, but it would still be nice if we could stay in touch more. Isn't that the point of new communication technology?
I've looked into kid safe email before (essentially a white list only system) but there aren't very many options.
Try Galactic Civilizations then. It's turn based strategy, basically Civilization in space.
I tried Sins and didn't like the game at all, GalCiv is more my type of game.

By output do you mean lines of code? For many non-technical IT managers, that's how you measure output. Incompetent programmers can often put out ten lines of code that should require one.
An Xbox has a limited purpose: to play games. Yes, it can do other things, but they're all built around that main purpose.
A PC can do anything you want it to, assuming the software exists. Anything, that is, until the DRM infested software you just installed tells you that you can't.
The software that Spore installs will tell you that you cannot run Daemon Tools. Does the Xbox run Daemon Tools? No, but then you never bought it expecting that you could. I love my Xbox because it does exactly what I want it to do: play games. Increasingly computers are losing that ability.
I've been thinking about picking up GalCivII, and this may be the time to do it.
As long as Spore is a DRM infested mess (and from the sounds of it, not all that great a game) I could go get a game that has no DRM, from a company who cares about it's customers, and from the demo I played way back when should be quite enjoyable.
But if you were on your way to a flight for an important business meeting, how screwed up is your life going to be if you're whisked off to a jail cell for questioning? Even if they let you go after a couple days, you're probably fucked.
Also, I don't quite like the idea of being monitored constantly by people I don't trust to do the right thing.
Well, it basically is a tax. They claim it's for retirement, but it's just a pile of IOUs and the assholes in Washington have no idea how to pay for it.
We also have private funds here in the form of 401k and IRA accounts, but they're completely voluntary.
Yes, the American government rapes it citizens but somehow the Democrats and Republicans keep getting elected.
Layoffs? I don't have documented proof of that. But anecdotally, my best friend is a carpenter with 15 years of experience who has trouble finding work because shady contractors with a team of illegal immigrants underbids him every time.
Was he laid off? Nope. But he does live paycheck to paycheck in a field where a person used to be able to make a decent living.
Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the rights of individuals by government, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration or military service laws. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices and personal relationships. Government does not have the authority to define, license or restrict personal relationships.
1.4 Abortion
Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.
Hell, I'm in Minneapolis and can't get anything higher than 1.5Mb DSL. (I refuse to use Comcast with their high prices and horrible upload speeds)
Too bad Minneapolis is a den of corruption and cronyism. We're hoping to move next year, this horrible city won't be missed.

I find it amusing that you think the police are there to protect you personally, and also that poverty is responsible for 90% of crime.

Define criminal.

Does everyone drive a dumptruck where you live? Where do you get 4500+ lbs average vehicle weight?
You've never actually been anywhere that it snows, have you?

Or, I don't know, ride a bicycle.
Who said anything about dropping a bomb?

Bitter Sony Fanboy?
Also, I believe the hard drive is required because it contains game profiles used by the emulator.

Someone making 6.55/hr will not pay that much in taxes. Did you even account for the standard deduction?

Really? According to this page, both you and the person I replied to are both idiots.

In the US, the government takes 7.5% of your check, and your employer is on the hook for a matching amount.
Then they take that money and spend it on whatever the hell they feel like. Wars, bridges to nowhere, etc.
Wow, late night bender catching up to me. "any of those things".
Libertarians are 100% against abortion laws, marriage laws, or giving government power. What rock did you crawl out from under, dipshit?
You're a moron if you think libertarians support any of this thing, shit-for-brains.
