Sure, you have a massive army, question is, do you really need it to be that massive? Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if there are countries with less inhabitants than your army has soldiers, not to mention bullets. There are a lot of things about your nation that i find puzzling though, you have rampant spending on the military, yet I've heard some horror stories (here on slashdot even!) about your healthcare, public education and wellfare that could be solved with diverting a part of that budget towards these things. Oh well, blame it on cultural differences

All the ones yapping on about how Apple provides an xml file that allows one to access the library are being unreasonable. iTunes is the 'preferred' way of managing your music on OSX, what they should provide is a way for a third party to create a plugin, driver or whatchamacallit that allows third parties to create an interface for their devices that works transparently for the end user, Apple is all about ease of use right? Why force the user to use multiple applications to do the same task? I have no problem Palm solving this problem by spoofing an USB Vendor ID, hell, Apple should be glad that more people use their POS iTunes for music, it means more sales for them (if you swing that way, me personally, i wouldn't buy mp3's, i prefer the shiny thingies).

Assuming this is all true, this does not change the fact that us (as in humanity) getting our act together & actively reduce pollution is a good thing.

Having low (or none) CO2 emissions is not something that will inversely affect the planet or the ecology, it's been doing fine without our 'help' in that regard, but the opposite of this, us dumping huge amounts of previously trapped CO2 into the atmosphere might very well be messing up our own planet, and in case you haven't noticed, we don't have a backup of that one.

There is no argument to do nothing, except greed, but there are a lot of valid arguments for us starting to live 'greener' lives, if you don't believe global warming is a reality, well then do it for one of the other reasons, and if you truly believe there are no reasons, go sit in a pool of oil mixed with your own excrements and enjoy it.

The ironic thing is the scientific method ultimately brings one back to the same sorts of mysteries that Creationism want to jump straight to. Parallel universes, etc. The "god story" doesn't sound so wierd once you get to the advanced levels of stuff.

    Dude, no.

Creationism is plain & simple a 'god did it' without any further questioning what & where that god came from.

Creationism is the lazy man's science, instead of actually thinking about stuff they just shrug & say 'god did it'. Ask them who created god & their eyes glaze over.

Science = Gotta Wear A Darwin Fish on your car is kind of closed-minded as anything else. It's characterized by surrounding yourself by people who exclusively think like you already think, and not being challenged.

Again, no. You must be quite dense if you really believe this nonsense you just wrote, no sane person acts like that.

  23. Re:Let them sue on Does Your Vendor Issue Gag Orders? · · Score: 1

The situation here in Belgium is alot different, over here, when a reseller or dealer sells something that's paid by visa (and i'm assuming mastercard also) they loose a certain percentage on the sale, plus a transaction fee, thus alot of places actually do not accept visa (especially if the margins are low).

Debit cards however, are common, they get used for just about everything, probably simular to how you use your visa, except the money gets transfered immediatly (less risk of overdrawing yourself there, you can even have a card set so you can't go into the red zone), the dealer only has the transaction fee, and you can't use them *WITHOUT* entering a pincode, so not only do you need to loose the card, you also need to loose the pincode together with the card.

Your last line strikes me as odd, and conflicts to how i remember visa cards here in Belgium, but then again, the last time some salesclerk tried to ram one through my troat is awhile ago now.

Cool, i've seen profitmargins lower than 3%! Seriously, why creditcards are so popular on your side of the pond is beyond me, the only added value of a creditcard is to the company dispatching them. The dealers get sacked, the users get sacked & the fat cats get fatter.

Last.fm however, does provide excellent service, they have a community, a concert agenda, wiki pages about the bands & artists, loads & loads of small unknown bands just waiting to be discovered... I love it!
