I manage a computer repair shop. I teach my guys that discretion is paramount. First of all I'd they snoop on customer files they get fired. Second if the do see something they aren't to discuss it. Finally if they stumble on something criminal (like kiddy porn) they report it to me and I deal with it. In the case of the aforementioned I'll call the cops. But I make the decision and the responsibility.
I manage a local computer repair shop, until recently we installed Firefox by default with operating system reinstall 's. Now we have moved to recommending chrome mainly be many of our user are having issues with sites like pogo working on Firefox.
I think this is a nail in a fast closing coffin for Mozilla, users want things to just work and Firefox no longer does. But chrome never seems to fail.
I personally moved to Mint because of Unity, but now have an added reason to stick with my delicious and refreshing flavor of Linux. Plus green is my favorite color!
Ubiquity http://www.ubnt.com/ has a device called a nano station it is perfect for your needs it can share the connection using wireless over distances up to 5 miles. but the range can be limited in the device via power management. they run DD-wrt and can be configured as access point or point to point connections. I have used them for years as a network solutions provider.
well, as I am in America and own guns, I would shoot the fucker in the head and piss on his corps! Now as for the Sovereignty of Libya Fuck that too! Sovereinty is derived from the people and their willingness to be governed! When the people of an oppressed Nation STAND up and DEMAND their freedom we need to Listen! We also need to provide what ever assistance we can. so I here and now Pledge mine! get me with in a Mile of That ASSHOLE with a clear line of sight and I will blow his head off with my.50 cal! and since I am a Marine Scout Sniper I ain't just blowing smoke!
OK so here is my Idea we use a set of UAV's equipped with GSM band transceivers ans satellite uplinks, have the UAV's station keep over the most populated area's bouncing their signals from the GSM up to Satellites. this tech all currently exists and is possible using current mil-tech! and while expensive very feasible!
well that is my Idea whats yours!
absolutely amazing! while windows XP was and is usable, Vista was a disaster on launch, and 7 an immediate favorite, their mobile platforms have always struggled. mobile 5 was utilitarian like XP and 6 was a failure on par with Vista is 7 as good as 7?
While apple struggles to prevent us from running the aps we want on devices we OWN! windows is working with the hacker to provide the content people want and solve the security flaws that allow the unlocking. can we say brilliant on the part of MS (formerly the evil overlord)
it is called Prey and it is designed to help recover your stolen laptop. http://preyproject.com/ good luck in your search. on other price of advice full drive encryption http://www.truecrypt.org/ and bios boot password make it as hard as possible for them to profit from the theft. I even go so far as to remove the OS license sticker on the bottom(saving it at home in a file for my future reload needs). that is just my $0.02. once again good luck.
inSSIDer will scan the freq's just like netstumbler but works with your existing wifi driver and stack. it will work with and card on XP, VIsta, or 7. as for netstumbler you don't mention your OS it only works on XP.
Second, the FCC will investigate if you phrase your complaint properly. use the terms Pirate Broadcast, and or terrorist transmission. don't expect them to solve it overnight it may take a few days or weeks for them to even show up.
Third, consider switching to 802.11n 5Ghz if the issue is specific to the 2.4Ghz range then using 5Ghz will evade the problem.
1. Let them encrypt your computer
2. Don't use your personal computer for work.
3. Quit and state their Draconian Rules as you reason.
As a head of IT for a Financial institution who has similar requirements, if you quit they will tell you Bye.
we don't allow any personal computer to connect to our network, company provided Laptops have VPN access, and all machines have full drive encryption.
Now we use Truecrypt and it provides easy to use stable encryption. so here is my advise. Stop doing work from home, if you nees to work from home have them provide a laptop w/VPN for access and use their encryption. Or find a new job.
First let me state that I really like windows media center for windows 7. ok so here is what I use. I bought a Nettop pc modded it and hooked it up as a HTCP here is the details.
here is the computer I started with http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5384442&CatId=2313
the First thing I did was to replace the Hdd with a 1Tb Barracuda with 3 partitions 2 50 GB and the rest on the third
it now dual boots WIndows 7 Home Premium 32 bit and Mythbuntu 32 bit each on a 50 GB drive, the remaining partition is used for media storage.
it is hooked up via the HDMI to my 54 in visio lcd. I use a wireless key board with a track pad(like a laptop) for navigation and the screen is so big it is easily viewed from my recliner. her eit the key board http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5645706&CatId=537
YOU'RE an Idiot, 100% completely retarded. I think our a liar and know nothing about IT, Antivirus apps are essential. yes Norton, Mcafee and Trendmicro are a huge hassle and slow down your computer and don't work worth a shit, but AVG, AVAST, and MSE are all light weight free and easy to use. MSE is my fav.
you need to stop giving bad advice.
If they like slums so much they are free to go live in one, as for me and my family we will stay on our 120 acre's. sure we may use more electricity and water. but we are doing our part for energy and water conservation, we have two 100ft by 40 ft steel buildings whose roofs are covered with solar cells. we sell so much electricity during peak times that our electric bill every month is about -$140. part of that electricity is stored by battery and powers our water well pump. Since we have an all electric house, we are almost completely off the grid. we have no water bill no electrical bill.
it looks Like one more reason to switch to 64bit to me. I have been using 64bit since Vista. Now I am glad I made the switch. and since the oem keys for vista and 7 are good for both the 32bit and 64bit versions the only excuse for not going 64bit is laziness (assuming you have a 64bit processor) I have yet to find a 32bit program that doesn't run on my 64bit machine.

play it on win 7 64 bit but it fails to work properly even under a virtual host.

The copy the suckers are buying don't work. But the Bootleg I stole off of IPTorrents works flawlessly. I truly am laughing my ASS of

I would take that class
If I want the "cure" then fine But should I be forced to receive it (like maybe due to a Military Draft) HELL NO.

Microsoft Security Essential- it is lighter on resources than AVG or AVAST, and does a better job than McAffe or Norton

My 2.0Ghz core 2 duo w/ 4 GB ddr2 has rarely risen above 70% and normally hovers at 30%
it has h.264 support and is free
My 20 Mbps comcast works great and is more than fast enough even with all the HD movie's I download. let market forces determine connection speeds.
