Dunno what RSS reader you use, but I just set up a rule in mine - if message content includes http://idle.slashdot.org/ then delete. Quite handy, if it works - here's hoping.
Why hype-up that they've "finally" included the damn thing, when it's been a standard feature on phones since GPRS and Bluetooth were available (my phone does it and that was released in 2003)?
I don't think you know what "standard feature" really means. It has been an available feature, possibly a common, or much sought-after feature, but not standard. That's like saying (cue car analogy) an aux input on a car stereo is a standard feature. Don't get me wrong, I think that if you're paying for a data plan on a cell phone, it should have the capability of being tethered, most likely at an additional fee.
Wanting and needing are two very different things.
This is true. It is also true that people don't just buy what they need. I don't believe anyone who says they cannot live without an Apple product. They can, they'd have to "settle" for Windows or Linux or something (or, gasp!, no computer at all!), but they could.
That being said, I do own more than my fair share of Apple products, I think, because I like the design of Mac OS X, and believe it is superior to Windows. I like that I don't have to install CygWin in order to have a shell that functions like the shell on the servers at work. Also, my iPod and iPhone sync very well with it, and share my purchased content. Apple may be getting a cut of every purchase I make off iTunes, but the original artist behind that song, show, movie, or application still gets something. Can the same be said if you just bittorrent it, jailbreak it, or copy a friend's copy of a copy?

4. Realize that the only difficulty programmed into the AI at this point is Very Easy, and have fun fighting an opponent that never makes more than a half dozen combat units.
Are you basing this off the beta? Or some actual information from Blizzard in this regard? In SC1 and WC3 there was LAN, Battle.net, and Custom Game - single player against AI was Custom Game. I'm not trying to use this as validation for how SC2 is going to be, but I am saying that if you're judging it solely off the beta, then that's foolish, as there isn't really an AI in the beta - or have you not noticed that you thoroughly trounce the "Very Easy" AI that never makes more than a half dozen units?
But the crux of their obstruction case came from testimony by McFall, a computer expert so skilled he was tapped to help organize the FBI's elite Computer Analysis and Response Team, or CART.
McFall said his probe was stymied by a series of steps authorities allege Kernell took to cover his tracks, including deleting from the computer material gleaned from Palin's account, clearing his Internet history on one Web browser, uninstalling another browser and running a Windows tool designed to speed a computer up by overwriting space occupied by deleted files.
Complaining about Apple's "monopoly" on the iPhone/iPod/iPad is like complaining about Amazon's "monopoly" on the Kindle. Just because it became really popular doesn't mean it becomes public domain, and anyone should be able to put whatever software on it they want. Just because cars with built-in navigation are becoming popular doesn't mean you should be able to install linux on them.
Just like you can always pick a different car, with a different brand of built-in navigation, or without built-in, and buy your own Garmin or TomTom, you can also choose to buy something other than an iPhone/iPod/iPad. You don't have to have it, but, if you choose to, then you get what Apple decides to give you. Even if you don't agree with it 100%. I would love to have my iPhone 3Gs on Verizon, but I'll deal with AT&T, especially since it's been pretty much okay in the area I live. The 3G signal isn't omnipresent, nor omnipotent, but I usually use it on wifi anyway. People have survived for nearly 3 years with iPhones that don't have Adobe Flash - why is Adobe getting their panties in a twist now? Because the iPad is this magical revolutionary device?....No, they just want some of the Apple Pie.
Additionally, if a site targets a demographic that has worse latency (low income people, areas with dial-up and so on), then, again, that site will appear to be slower, while actually the visitors have slower internet in general.
Except they (according to the summary, didn't RTFA) aren't going by page load times, they're going by server response. That means that pages that are poorly written and take forever to load (or are connected to slow ad-servers) won't get downranked because of that. Only ones with slow server times. The slashdot effect will still potentially impact it, but the speed of a user's internet connection makes little impact on the speed of a ping.
First, this isn't a call to standardize either the SI system or the metric system globally.
Anyone else notice that the image in TFA has everything in miles, but then the little information in the actual article was always in kilometers? Also, while the article mentions radius, they never specify that's what the image is showing, nor do they state the radius of any of the things in the image, so, without outside research, you couldn't tell where Pluto falls in their discussion for certain, even if you're adept at converting miles to kilometers!
Actually, politicians aren't required to know of anything other than passing (legislating) more laws. It's the law enforcement officials that are supposed to enforce laws, and the judiciaries that make sure they're proper laws.
No, you need to get one of those matte finish monitors, the anti-glare. You're just seeing your reflection in the monitor. It's been awhile since you showered and shaved, so you probably don't recognize him.
Maybe it was your failing to not recover your data before you opted to reformat and reinstall your OS? Honestly, if you have a hard drive crash, your data is usually still there, and still accessible. Hook it up to a working OS and retrieve your files, or maintain a backup of files. This is a fact of life, and has been for ages, even before computers. If you have documents that are important, you keep backups. That's why there is more than one copy of a book, more than one copy of your tax return, more than one copy of the laws and regulations of wherever you live.

Maybe it'll be Maybelline? Or is the Avon Lady coming to irradiate us all into glorious skin hues? Fear the Mary Kay pink cars!
China and Japan are also a lot more likely to be blanketed in Wifi, aren't they? Making their data usage faster, and not on mobile networks.
Don't worry, the gov't will make enough money to fund the bail out. They're covered.

But the GP is Barny. And he loves you. Don't you love him? Can't you just be a happy family?
Was he referring to Windows Vista as "a major overhaul", or D&D 4th Edition?
I believe the correct answer is "Nowhere."
3 cheers for *native* Mac development, instead of just Cider builds!

I could never hold my breath for 20 minutes...but wait! I've got beer with oxygen in it! Solution!

They're not that big. Not literally. Now DC...DC has mosquitoes the size of people, dressed up as people!

Virus? I believe you mean "urgent security update".
See that drop down menu next to Preview and Submit?
Yeah that one. Set it to "Plain Old Text" if you're having trouble, or learn how to use the html line break.
